‘Man of Tomorrow’ Star Adria Arjona Dazzles in Black Gown at ‘Onslaught’ Premiere
Genre film premieres are known for their unique energy, combining the excitement of a major theatrical release with the elegance of a red carpet event. This energy amplifies when the film showcases a significant stylistic shift for its leading star.
Such was the atmosphere at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Onslaught,’ A24’s upcoming action-horror thriller directed by Adam Wingard, held at Regal L.A. Live. The event gathered much of the film’s ensemble cast, including Drew Starkey, Dan Stevens, Reginald VelJohnson, and Michael Biehn, all there to celebrate the project ahead of its theatrical release.
At the heart of the evening was Adria Arjona, who captivated attendees in a stunning strapless black gown, a sharp contrast to her rugged, battle-worn character in the film. Arjona styled her hair in a sleek bun, allowing the structured elegance of her dress to take center stage.
She was not alone on the red carpet. Arjona was accompanied by her boyfriend, Jason Momoa, who matched her in complementary dark tones, donning a grey suit with a black tank top. The couple was seen sharing affectionate moments throughout the event.
The gown’s understated elegance sharply contrasted with the character Arjona portrays in ‘Onslaught.’ She plays Celeste, a decorated Army sniper grappling with PTSD who must face a squad of genetically engineered super soldiers that threaten her and her young daughter.
Arjona has noted that this role is one of the most physically demanding of her career, marking a notable transition towards action-heavy leading roles after a filmography primarily focused on drama, romance, and suspense in projects like ‘Andor,’ ‘Hit Man,’ and ‘Blink Twice.’ The film reunites director Adam Wingard with his longtime collaborator and screenwriter Simon Barrett, known for cult classics like ‘You’re Next’ and ‘The Guest.’
Looking beyond ‘Onslaught,’ Arjona has an exciting lineup ahead, including roles in the Superman sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow’ and a remake of ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ starring Michael B. Jordan. She has expressed that her current focus is on projects that challenge her and push her boundaries.
The film’s cast also features Eric Wareheim, Alex Pereira, and Rebecca Hall, contributing to what A24 describes as one of its most ambitious genre films yet. Early reactions from recent screenings have sparked positive buzz, adding to the excitement surrounding the film’s marketing campaign.
‘Onslaught’ is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX screens nationwide on September 4, offering audiences their first full glimpse of Arjona’s transformation from glamorous red carpet star to a fierce action heroine. For a film centered on themes of survival and protection, the premiere’s polished fashion moment served as a fitting prelude to the chaos that awaits on screen.
