Fans Discover Lucia’s Real ‘GTA 6’ Apartment Building in Miami
Rockstar Games has established a reputation for creating worlds that feel strikingly authentic, and few franchises inspire the same level of dedicated real-world detective work as ‘Grand Theft Auto.’ With each trailer release, fans have turned the search for real-life locations that inspired the game’s fictional cityscapes into a competitive sport.
This tradition continues ahead of ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’s’ release, with players exploring the streets of Miami to find buildings that resemble those depicted in the game. Since the franchise’s Vice City heavily draws from South Florida’s actual architecture and skyline, these comparisons have become a cherished ritual among fans.
The latest find may be the most remarkable yet. Lucia’s in-game apartment complex has reportedly been identified as the real-life Belmar Condominium in Miami, Florida. Fans noted that the building was demolished in 2022, yet it closely resembles its digital counterpart in ‘GTA VI,’ including a near-exact replica of the building across the street.
Reports indicate that the Belmar was purchased for $12 million in 2022 as part of a deal involving the entire condominium complex. The plan at that time was to demolish the structure to make way for Vela, a proposed $300 million, 55-story tower.
However, the ambitious redevelopment project faced significant hurdles related to zoning approval, leading to the application being withdrawn in 2023, leaving the project stalled ever since. As of this year, the original lot where the Belmar once stood remains vacant, even as the 1970s-era building continues to exist digitally within Vice City’s recreated skyline.
This isn’t the first instance of players identifying real Miami landmarks within ‘GTA VI.’ Fans have also pointed out what seems to be a hidden reference to Dexter Morgan’s apartment complex from the Showtime series somewhere on the game’s map, although this connection has yet to be officially confirmed by Rockstar.
In addition to individual buildings, previous leaks and comparisons have highlighted several other real Miami structures that appear to be recreated within the game, including well-known local landmarks along the city’s bay-facing skyline. This level of detail has only fueled fan theories about how many other real-world locations might be concealed throughout the game’s expansive open world.
Discoveries like the Belmar Condominium underscore the depth of research Rockstar’s design team has conducted on Miami’s actual urban landscape while crafting Vice City’s fictional counterpart. For a game that is already generating unprecedented anticipation, these real-world parallels enhance the sense of authenticity that fans have come to expect from the franchise.
There’s also something quietly poignant about a now-demolished piece of Miami’s skyline finding a permanent digital home within one of the most anticipated video games ever made. Regardless of what happens to the Belmar’s actual real estate future, its likeness now lives on as a small but significant part of ‘GTA VI’s’ meticulously crafted world.
