Marvel’s marketing strategy has never shied away from the snack aisle, and this year’s promotional efforts for its upcoming crossover event are among the most ambitious yet. From cookies to candy, the studio has dedicated months to transforming grocery store shelves into an extension of its release campaign, with the latest addition taking a surprisingly playful turn.

This campaign has already included a Marvel-themed Oreo collaboration featuring a color-changing cream filling linked to Doctor Doom, as well as a global partnership with M&M’s that spans 65 markets. Both tie-ins highlight Marvel’s aggressive push into consumer products ahead of December’s release, treating snack packaging as another avenue to generate excitement.

Now, Cheetos has joined the lineup with its themed collaboration, offering fans a first glimpse at packaging centered around three of the film’s pivotal characters. Newly released images reveal that Doctor Doom is reimagined as a Salted Toffee flavor, Mystique as Cheese & Ketchup, and Ant-Man as a straightforward Ketchup variety, with each character’s design featured prominently on the corresponding bag.

The character selections align closely with the film’s confirmed roster of heroes and villains. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Victor von Doom, the film’s main antagonist, while Rebecca Romijn returns as Mystique, sporting what marketing materials describe as a comic-accurate costume update. Paul Rudd also returns as Scott Lang’s Ant-Man, joining a massive ensemble cast.

Based on the flavor combinations and packaging style, this collaboration seems aimed at international markets rather than a U.S. release, following a trend seen in Marvel’s overseas snack partnerships that often feature flavor profiles distinct from those typically available in the U.S. The Cheese & Ketchup and Salted Toffee flavors, in particular, are combinations more familiar to European snack aisles than American ones.

This latest reveal is part of a broader promotional rollout for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which has already included extensive merchandising through Hasbro action figures, LEGO sets, and detailed costume reveals for several of the film’s major villains. The scale of this campaign reflects the magnitude of the film itself, which unites heroes and villains from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men for what is being touted as one of the MCU’s largest crossover events to date.

With Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and many other returning stars leading the cast, and the Russo brothers back in the director’s chair after their work on ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ anticipation for the film has been steadily growing throughout the year. Snack tie-ins like this Cheetos partnership, however unconventional the flavor combinations may appear, are clearly intended to maintain that momentum visible in everyday spaces beyond just trailers and posters.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters worldwide on December 18, giving Marvel’s marketing team several more months to unveil unexpected partnerships before the film’s release.
