‘Lioness’ Star James Jordan Confirms ‘Landman’ Season 3 Production Starts Soon
Taylor Sheridan’s television empire has established itself as a powerhouse in the streaming landscape, with hits like ‘Yellowstone’, ‘1883’, and ‘Landman’ thriving together and featuring a rotating cast of familiar faces. Among those actors is James Jordan, who has become a staple in Sheridan’s expanding portfolio over the past decade.
Currently, Jordan is balancing two roles, portraying Dale Bradley on ‘Landman’ and Two Cups on ‘Special Ops: Lioness’, both available on Paramount+. As ‘Lioness’ progresses through the latter half of its third season, Jordan is shifting his attention to the next installment of his other Sheridan project, which fans have eagerly awaited updates on for several months.
That long-awaited update has finally come, with Jordan announcing that production on ‘Landman’ Season 3 is set to commence shortly. “We’re about to start ‘Landman’ Season 3,” he stated. “So, we’re getting those scripts. We’re about to get to work, and we’re going to try to have that out as soon as we can,” according to comments made to TV Insider.
This confirmation comes after months of fluctuating timelines for the show’s third season. Production was initially expected to kick off as early as May, then postponed to August, before finally settling into the current September timeframe that Jordan and other cast members have confirmed in various recent interviews. The show is anticipated to film through the first quarter of 2027, based on earlier reports regarding the schedule.
Jordan has indicated that he expects much of the original cast to return for the new season, with Billy Bob Thornton continuing to lead as oil company fixer Tommy Norris. Sam Elliott, Jacob Lofland, Paulina Chávez, and Kayla Wallace are also anticipated to reprise their roles, maintaining the show’s intricate narrative of oil industry drama and West Texas grit that contributed to its breakout success on Paramount+.
In addition to the returning cast, Jordan has expressed confidence that his character, Dale, will remain safe despite the show’s history of killing off regulars in other Sheridan projects. He has previously mentioned that his characters in shows like ‘1883’, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’, and ‘Wind River’ have all faced brutal fates, making Dale’s survival through two seasons of ‘Landman’ an exception in his collaborations with Sheridan.

Fans eager for a quick release after filming wraps should temper their expectations. Given the extended production timeline extending into next year, previous reports suggest that the earliest possible release window for new episodes could be in the latter half of 2027, assuming post-production stays on track. Director Stephen Kay has indicated that the team plans to edit while filming continues, a strategy aimed at reducing the wait once production concludes.
For now, fans can enjoy the ongoing run of ‘Lioness’ Season 3 while ‘Landman’ prepares to ramp up behind the scenes. With Jordan and the cast expressing genuine excitement about returning to Sheridan’s West Texas oil world, anticipation for the next chapter continues to build as the September start date approaches.
