Robert Pattinson has established himself as one of Hollywood’s busiest actors in recent years, seamlessly transitioning from one demanding project to another with little time to spare. From blockbuster hits to acclaimed dramas, Pattinson has made it clear that he has no intention of slowing down.

However, this intense schedule has taken a toll on him, especially now that production on Matt Reeves’ eagerly awaited sequel, ‘The Batman: Part II’, has officially begun in London. Fans have been anticipating this follow-up for years, and Pattinson has humorously noted how he feels he’s aging into the role since the first film.

As filming progresses, Pattinson has shared insights into the demanding nature of the shoot. In an interview with GQ, he revealed that the physicality of the role feels different this time. “I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot,” he remarked. “I’m literally like, ‘Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.’ But it’s really fun. And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great. It’s got a really, really fun cast, but it’s a marathon.”

This marathon analogy aligns with what is known about the production thus far. ‘The Batman: Part II’ began filming earlier this year after a lengthy pre-production phase, with the script by Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin finally completed after years of development.

Pattinson is not the only one returning for the sequel. Colin Farrell reprises his role as Oz Cobb, better known as the Penguin, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, preserving much of the original film’s emotional core.

The sequel also introduces a host of high-profile newcomers, including Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson in undisclosed roles, along with Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. Notably, Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman and Paul Dano’s Riddler are not expected to return, indicating a shift away from some central antagonist dynamics of the first film.

The narrative picks up in the winter following Gotham City’s catastrophic flood, with Bruce Wayne continuing to delve into the corruption and division that plague the city. Given the noir-inspired tone of its predecessor, expectations are high that this sequel will delve even deeper into the atmospheric, detective-driven style that defined Reeves’ interpretation of the character.

Pattinson’s remarks about the physical demands of the shoot come during what has already been a remarkably busy year for him, following significant roles in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ and Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Three.’ Balancing such a workload with the rigorous demands of playing Batman underscores Pattinson’s commitment to ensuring this sequel is a success.

With ‘The Batman: Part II’ set to release on February 18, 2028, fans will have to wait a while longer. However, based on Pattinson’s recent comments, it seems the final product will be worth the exhausting journey it’s taking to create.
