‘MobLand’ Season 3 Renewal Confirmed with Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan Returning
Paramount+ has struck gold with ‘MobLand’, which quickly emerged as one of the platform’s most successful original series upon its debut. The crime drama, produced by Guy Ritchie, has captivated audiences with its impressive ensemble cast and a gritty portrayal of London’s criminal underbelly.
Following its initial success, the series was swiftly renewed for a second season. However, uncertainty loomed regarding its future due to reported tensions between star Tom Hardy and showrunner Jez Butterworth, which raised concerns about Hardy’s potential absence in a third season.
Fortunately, those worries have been alleviated. Paramount+ has officially announced the renewal of ‘MobLand’ for Season 3, confirming that Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Harry Da Souza, the loyal fixer of the Harrigan family. He will be joined by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, who will return as crime family leaders Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, as reported by Deadline.
The road to this announcement was not without its bumps. Initial reports indicated that escalating tensions between Hardy and Butterworth during the production of Season 2 had reached a breaking point, with Hardy’s habitual lateness to set being a significant issue.
At one point, it seemed Hardy might exit the series entirely, with Deadline previously indicating he was on the verge of leaving. However, a resolution meeting in London involving Hardy, Butterworth, and executive producer David Glasser helped mend the rift, allowing for Hardy’s return. Mirren also showed her support for Hardy on social media during this tumultuous period.
In its renewal announcement, Paramount+ made it clear that “the Harrigans aren’t going anywhere,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, explicitly mentioning Hardy’s character as part of that commitment.

The announcement of Season 3 comes just weeks before the premiere of ‘MobLand’ Season 2, which is set to launch on September 18 with 10 new episodes airing weekly until November 20. In this upcoming season, the Harrigan family faces new challenges as rival factions threaten their already fragmented criminal empire, while Harry navigates increasingly perilous situations amid rising tensions within the family.
Season 2 will also feature a robust supporting cast, including Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer, and Toby Jones, enriching the narrative surrounding the show’s leading trio.
‘MobLand’ has previously achieved the status of Paramount+’s second-biggest launch for an original series, second only to ‘Landman.’ Given its strong viewership, a renewal seemed inevitable, and a writers’ room for Season 3 has been in operation since May, anticipating the show’s ongoing success.
Hardy, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Ritchie, Butterworth, and others, is believed to have signed a three-year contract from the outset, making his continued involvement in Season 3 a straightforward process. With the cast drama resolved and a new season confirmed, ‘MobLand’ appears set for a promising future on Paramount+.
