‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Poised to Be Second Film to Cross $900 Million Domestically
Box office records often stand for years, sometimes even decades, until a new contender emerges to challenge them. This is particularly true in the domestic market, where only a select few films have ever surpassed the $900 million mark in North America.
Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Spider-Man has consistently rewritten box office benchmarks, breaking the previous domestic opening record and surpassing milestone after milestone at a pace that has left industry analysts scrambling to keep up. This momentum has only increased as the film continues its theatrical run.
Now, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is on track to become just the second film in history to cross the $900 million mark at the domestic box office. Following a strong $1.7 million performance on its fifth Wednesday, the film’s total has reached $898.1 million, according to box office tracking shared on social media. It is expected to officially cross that threshold on Friday.
What makes this achievement particularly remarkable is the speed at which it is being accomplished. According to Forbes, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ remains the only other film to have crossed $900 million domestically, taking 50 days to reach that milestone back in 2016. ‘Brand New Day’ is on pace to hit that mark in under 35 days, which is more than two weeks faster than the previous record holder.
This comparison goes beyond just speed. As reported by ComicBasics, the film’s domestic total is now over $88 million ahead of where ‘Avengers: Endgame’ was at the same point in its historic 2019 run, despite ‘Brand New Day’ having opened roughly $3 million ahead of Endgame’s pace initially.
The film’s ascent on the all-time domestic chart has been equally impressive. ‘Brand New Day’ has already surpassed ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ $858.3 million lifetime domestic total, claiming the No. 2 position on the all-time North American chart, with only ‘The Force Awakens’ and its $936.6 million total standing between Holland’s film and the ultimate record.
Industry estimates now suggest that ‘Brand New Day’ could ultimately land between $950 million and $960 million domestically, a range that would officially dethrone ‘The Force Awakens’ as the highest-grossing film of all time in the United States, a record that has stood for over a decade. Such projections would have seemed almost unimaginable for a fourth installment in an ongoing franchise just a few months ago.
The film’s international performance has also matched its domestic success, having already crossed $2 billion worldwide, making it just the eighth film in cinema history to reach that milestone. Its opening weekend alone recorded the largest domestic debut ever, and it went on to achieve the highest-grossing first week in North American box office history.

Beyond the impressive numbers, ‘Brand New Day’ has consistently received strong ratings from audiences throughout its run, boasting an “A” CinemaScore that reflects the overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth that has helped sustain its momentum well past its opening weekend. This combination of critical acclaim and record-breaking box office performance has made the film one of the defining theatrical events of the year.
With Labor Day weekend traffic already giving the film an additional boost toward this milestone, all eyes are now on whether ‘Brand New Day’ can close the gap and officially claim the all-time domestic crown before its theatrical run concludes.
