In recent years, content creators have increasingly transitioned into the film and television industry, with streaming personalities leveraging their online followings to launch multimedia franchises. YouTube and Twitch star Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White has been quietly working towards that kind of expansion for several years.

White first introduced fans to ‘GodSlap’ in 2021, a comic book series that showcases his passion for over-the-top action, gore, and, of course, slapping. The project evolved into a full ongoing series published through Bad Egg, a publishing house co-founded by White and merchandising firm Warren James, resulting in multiple issues and animated trailers produced by Sakowski Studios.

Now, that comic is officially being adapted into a feature film. Lyrical Animation is producing the movie adaptation of ‘GodSlap,’ collaborating with White’s own Meatier Productions to bring the ultra-violent, anime-inspired narrative to life, as reported by Deadline.

‘GodSlap’ follows an 18-year-old farm boy raised in secrecy by a father who views his extraordinary power as a curse. After losing everything in a single night of rebellion, the young protagonist must confront whether the force in his hands makes him a monster or the only one capable of taking down the corporation that controls the world.

This premise builds directly on the comic’s original tone, which drew comparisons to works like ‘One Punch Man’ and ‘Blade Runner’ upon its launch. The comic centers on protagonist Aius Bruan, whose anger manifests into devastating slaps as he navigates the fictional city of Montpelier, depicted through a striking black-and-white art style punctuated by vivid red blood.

Kellan Stover is directing the 2D hand-drawn animated film, with a script penned by Lyrical’s Creative Director Daniel Dominguez and Head of Lyrical Animation Jacob Robinson. Austin-based Powerhouse Animation Studios, known for its work on ‘Castlevania,’ is responsible for the animation, ensuring the project is backed by a team with proven credentials in the genre.

The news about ‘GodSlap’ coincides with another significant creator adaptation from the same studio. Lyrical Animation has also announced its plans to adapt the popular video game ‘Bloodborne’ for film, in collaboration with PlayStation Productions and fellow content creator Seán McLoughlin, known as Jacksepticeye, with parent company Lyrical Media co-financing the project alongside Sony Pictures.

Expressing excitement about bringing ‘GodSlap’ to the screen, Dominguez stated, “We’ve been longtime fans of Charlie, so getting the opportunity to bring his anime-inflected, hilariously violent comic ‘GodSlap’ to life was a dream come true,” according to Deadline. He emphasized that the comic stands as “one of the funniest, most non-stop surprising, and thematically urgent” releases of the past decade, making it a perfect candidate for an animated feature adaptation.

Founded in 2021, Lyrical Media has built a portfolio that includes titles such as ‘Bruiser’ and ‘How to Blow Up a Pipeline,’ reflecting a broader strategy of pairing established internet personalities with serious animation talent to create genre-driven feature films.

Production on the ‘GodSlap’ adaptation is already in progress, with the film currently scheduled for release in 2028. White has already shared a teaser for the project, providing fans their first glimpse of how the comic’s chaotic energy and art style may translate into a full-length animated film.

With White’s extensive fanbase and Powerhouse Animation’s expertise backing the project, ‘GodSlap’ is poised to be one of the most anticipated creator-driven animated features leading up to its eventual release.
