FX’s innovative take on the ‘Alien’ franchise has emerged as one of the most surprising sci-fi successes of the past year. By intertwining corporate horror with body-swap tragedy, Noah Hawley’s series has successfully grounded the iconic Xenomorph mythology on Earth, introducing viewers to a cast of synthetic “hybrid” children caught in the crossfire of warring megacorporations.

The first season concluded on a gripping note, with Wendy and her fellow Lost Boys taking control of Prodigy’s island installation, flanked by Xenomorphs and declaring their independence from their human creators. This cliffhanger left fans eager for more, and they didn’t have to wait long.

The continuation has officially commenced, as production for Season 2 of ‘Alien: Earth’ is now underway. The first behind-the-scenes footage features cast member Babou Ceesay, who portrays cyborg Morrow, holding a clapperboard on set, confirming that filming has begun.

Production has shifted significantly from Season 1’s filming location in Thailand to London at Pinewood Studios for Season 2, providing a fresh backdrop for the sequel.

Showrunner Noah Hawley returns, with Sydney Chandler reprising her role as Wendy alongside the original cast. New additions for Season 2 include Peter Dinklage, Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell, and Jerome Flynn, enhancing the already impressive ensemble.

Spruell’s casting marks a reunion with Hawley, as they previously collaborated on ‘Fargo,’ another acclaimed FX series. While details about the new characters remain under wraps, there’s ample room for speculation about their roles in the show’s escalating corporate conflict.

Hawley has been candid about his vision for the next chapter, even before Season 2 was greenlit. He described the Season 1 finale’s triumphant “now we rule” moment as just the beginning of a larger issue, with Weyland-Yutani ships still en route.

“I’m interested in exploring the corporate politics of it,” he shared with Empire, outlining plans to delve deeper into the five corporations that govern Earth in the show’s timeline. He likened this corporate landscape to the dramatic stakes familiar to fans of ‘Game of Thrones.’

Hawley has also indicated that Wendy and the other hybrids will remain the emotional core of the series as the narrative expands beyond the island setting that characterized Season 1. Given the franchise’s historical use of containment—whether on a spaceship, in a facility, or on an island—as a central metaphor, moving beyond that boundary in Season 2 sets the stage for a natural progression in the show’s mythology.

FX renewed ‘Alien: Earth’ for Season 2 back in November 2025, coinciding with a broader overall deal between Hawley and FX/Disney Entertainment Television. While no premiere date has been announced yet, the confirmation that filming is officially underway gives fans hope for the next chapter in Wendy’s journey.

With Season 1 having garnered a dedicated following, the anticipation for footage and a release window is sure to feel prolonged.
