James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe has been moving at lightning speed since ‘Superman’ debuted last year, and the buzz surrounding its sequel has been equally rapid. Every casting update, set image, and casual remark from the cast is scrutinized by fans eager to discover who will take on which roles.

This speculation has been particularly intense regarding Adria Arjona, whose part in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has been shrouded in secrecy since she joined the project. While initial reports suggested she would portray Maxima, an alien queen from Superman’s comic lore, ongoing rumors hint that she might actually be stepping into the more prominent role of Wonder Woman.

Arjona’s recent comments have only intensified these rumors. While promoting her new action film ‘Onslaught,’ she shared a glimpse of her rigorous training routine for the ‘Superman’ sequel in a workout video. She described a daily regimen that includes about 45 minutes of cardio, two hours of weightlifting, and six rounds of boxing, all without revealing the character she’s preparing to embody.

The demanding physical training Arjona described sounds more fitting for a lead Amazonian warrior than a supporting character. In addition to her structured workouts, she has previously mentioned training for two to three hours daily under a strict diet, showcasing muscle development she claims is unprecedented in her career.

Arjona has also discussed her long-standing relationship with boxing, stating that the sport enhances her focus and boosts her confidence in ways few activities can. This specificity in her physical preparation has only fueled fan theories that she is gearing up for something much more demanding than a minor role.

Social media reactions to her training footage have been swift, with fans across various platforms pointing to the intensity and secrecy of her preparation as evidence that she couldn’t possibly be training this hard for a lesser-known character like Maxima. Whether this theory holds true when ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is released remains to be seen, as DC Studios has yet to confirm any details about her role.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ is set to follow up on 2025’s ‘Superman,’ with David Corenswet reprising his role as the titular hero. Nicholas Hoult will return as Lex Luthor, and the film will introduce Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, continuing the expansion of the rogues’ gallery that Gunn has been developing in the early stages of the DCU.

The film is currently slated for release on July 9, 2027, giving fans ample time to analyze every hint Arjona drops in the meantime. Beyond her commitments to DC, Arjona has established a diverse career across film and television, with roles in ‘Andor,’ ‘Hit Man,’ and ‘Father of the Bride,’ along with upcoming appearances in ‘Onslaught’ and ‘The Thomas Crown Affair.’

If Gal Gadot’s version of Wonder Woman is indeed being passed on to a new actress, Arjona stepping into the iconic role would signify a major transition for the character following her portrayal in the DCEU’s ‘Wonder Woman’ films, as well as her appearances in both ‘Justice League’ releases and a cameo in ‘The Flash.’ Whoever ultimately takes on the mantle will inherit a significant legacy, regardless of whether that person is Arjona.

For now, fans can only continue to watch the workout videos and analyze every word for clues. Given how tightly Gunn’s DCU has kept its casting secrets, it’s unlikely that fans will receive a definitive answer until the studio is ready to unveil it on its own terms.
