In Episode 6 of Special Ops: Lioness Season 3, the story unfolds on the sixth day of Joe McNamara’s kidnapping, with Kaitlyn Meade and Kyle racing against time to bring her home safely.

In the earlier timeline, the repercussions of revealing extensive foreign infiltration in Washington escalate. FBI “sting operations” serve as a facade for a surge of arrests among Congressional members. Mullins, Meade, Byron, and Joe confront Senator Olson during breakfast, having confirmed his acceptance of campaign funds linked to the enemy network they’ve been pursuing. He faces two options: resign quietly or risk public arrest by the DOJ. Joe coldly reminds him of a third option. Unable to alert his wife or step down amid a media frenzy focused on suspicious resignations, Olson ultimately chooses that third path — driving himself into oncoming traffic rather than endure public disgrace.

Earlier, Kyle argued that WitPro wasn’t secure enough for Oleksa, the SVR double agent who had been their crucial informant, and advocated for bringing her in-house at the CIA. Mullins agreed and assigned Kyle the task of locating her. Months later, that mission becomes critical: with Joe still missing, Kyle tracks down Oleksa and seeks her insight into the abduction. Together, they realize the operation doesn’t align with Russian tradecraft at all. Their new theory suggests that Iranian operatives are actually behind Joe’s kidnapping, using Russian assets as a cover.

Equipped with this intel, the team shifts their focus. Oleksa directs them to the likely safe houses of the kidnappers. Randy and Tex canvass the area, while Kyle and his Delta Force contacts search for the specific aircraft the Iranians would need for an extraction; Cruz and the rest remain on standby as backup once Joe’s location is confirmed.

Kyle’s team arrives first — narrowing down the getaway plane based on its required specifications, locating the hangar, and apprehending the pilot and his accomplices with minimal resistance.

However, the rescue effort takes a cruel twist: Randy and Tex are searching the very neighborhood where Joe is actually being held — they just don’t realize it. Inside the safe house, Joe finally confronts Babat, the mastermind behind her kidnapping, who threatens her with a horrific fate once she’s out of the country. Before the episode concludes, he mutilates part of her foot and relocates her, setting up an alternative escape route.

The episode wraps up with the team having secured a tactical victory (capturing the plane and its crew) but still losing the battle for Joe — she remains in enemy hands, now facing an even more perilous situation as her captors devise a new plan to get her out of the country.

With only two episodes left before the finale on September 20, the next installment will need to reveal whether the team can uncover Joe’s new escape route before Babat successfully extracts her from U.S. airspace.
