‘War’ Trailer Features Dominic West and Sienna Miller in Legal Drama, Release Date Announced
HBO and Sky have established themselves as a powerhouse for high-quality British drama, consistently delivering engaging, star-studded series that explore the intricacies of elite society. Their latest project brings together two well-known actors from a different kind of conflict.
Dominic West, renowned for his iconic role in ‘The Wire,’ and Sienna Miller, who recently appeared in ‘Anatomy of a Scandal,’ are joining forces for a new venture that shifts from crime narratives to courtroom battles. Although they previously collaborated on the 2016 short film ‘The Tale of Thomas Burberry,’ this marks their first significant partnership as co-leads.
Their collaboration has led to the release of a captivating new trailer. HBO Max has unveiled the official teaser for ‘War,’ a legal drama set to premiere on October 1, with episodes streaming weekly on Thursdays throughout its eight-episode first season.

Created by George Kay, known for his work on ‘Lupin’ and ‘Hijack,’ ‘War’ focuses on two of London’s most powerful law firms, Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne, as they engage in a dramatic legal showdown. West portrays tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson, while Miller takes on the role of his estranged wife Carla Duval, a globally recognized film star, with the season revolving around the intense fallout from their divorce.
Caught in the crossfire of this legal battle is ambitious young lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren, played by Archie Renaux, who is drawn into a world where ambition is currency, betrayal is strategy, and winning is paramount. The trailer opens with West and Miller’s characters reflecting on their growing distance, setting the emotional stakes before the legal drama unfolds.
The ensemble cast also features Phoebe Fox and James McArdle as Serena Byrne and Nicholas Taylor, the partners at Taylor & Byrne who are also partners in life. On the opposing side, Nina Sosanya plays Beatrice “Queen Bea” Ubosi and Pip Torrens portrays St. John Smallwood, the fierce rivals leading the Cathcarts & Sons team.
Supporting roles include Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed, Emma Laird, Archie Panjabi, Adrian Scarborough, Honor Swinton Byrne, and Miles Jupp, among others, providing a rich array of British talent surrounding the central conflict.
‘War’ has already been renewed for a second season, with production on Season 2 underway even before the first season debuts. The upcoming season will reportedly focus on a new, equally explosive case involving a defamation suit, featuring guest stars Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald, and David Harewood as clients embroiled in the next legal battle.
This early confidence indicates that HBO and Sky view ‘War’ as a flagship project rather than a limited series, potentially establishing it as a cornerstone of their legal drama offerings for years to come if the first season meets expectations.
Season one of ‘War’ premieres on October 1 on HBO in the United States, with the UK release following a day later on Sky, on October 2. In the U.S., the series will be available for streaming on HBO Max, while international viewers can catch it across Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, France, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
The series is co-produced by New Pictures, a Banijay company, alongside Observatory Pictures, with Ben Taylor as lead director and Laurie Borg producing. With its premiere just weeks away, ‘War’ is set to become one of the most talked-about new prestige dramas of the fall season.
