Guy Ritchie’s ‘Wife & Dog’ Trailer Reveals Betrayal, Murder, and Family Greed
Guy Ritchie has established himself as one of the most industrious filmmakers in the industry, managing a remarkable array of projects across both film and television. This year, he has kept his signature mix of stylish crime and dark comedy alive with the Netflix revival of ‘The Gentlemen,’ the Prime Video series ‘Young Sherlock,’ and the returning Paramount+ hit ‘MobLand.’
His relentless pace shows no signs of abating. Ritchie’s latest cinematic venture dives back into the glamorous yet ruthless world of Britain’s elite, a territory that has defined much of his recent success, particularly with ‘The Gentlemen.’
The new project, ‘Wife & Dog,’ has just released its first teaser trailer, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins. Scheduled for release on February 19, 2027, in UK and Ireland cinemas, the teaser offers a glimpse into the film’s narrative, which revolves around “the relentless greed of the Fairbank family and their associates,” leading to “betrayal and murder in the battle for succession.”

The teaser begins with a voiceover from Hopkins’s character, who tells a story about a man trapped in a deep pit, realizing he cannot escape. As this narration unfolds, quick cuts showcase Pike at an extravagant formal dinner, setting the stage for the high-society backdrop that Ritchie is known for.
The footage builds a palpable sense of dread, featuring a body appearing on the shore and both Cumberbatch and Pike displaying concerned expressions. This tension culminates in a violent confrontation involving Cumberbatch’s character, who ultimately pulls the trigger on someone, hinting at the film’s intense family drama.
Cumberbatch and Pike portray an aristocratic couple whose greed leads them down a dark and violent path, with Hopkins rounding out the main trio in a role shrouded in secrecy. The supporting cast includes Cosmo Jarvis, James Norton, Paddy Considine, and Pip Torrens, who joined the production when filming commenced in the UK back in February.
Ritchie took on the roles of writer, director, and producer for the film, collaborating with his longtime producing partner Ivan Atkinson and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. This project marks their third collaboration following ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ and ‘In the Grey,’ showcasing a fruitful partnership across various genres.
Black Bear first introduced ‘Wife & Dog’ during the Cannes Film Market, describing it as a return to the colorful, backstabbing world of aristocracy that Ritchie previously explored in ‘The Gentlemen.’ This thematic continuity should resonate with fans familiar with Ritchie’s recent work, even though the specific story and characters are entirely new.
Notably, ‘Wife & Dog’ signifies Ritchie’s return to UK cinemas since the original release of ‘The Gentlemen’ in 2019, as he has primarily focused on streaming projects and films distributed differently across various markets since then.
‘Wife & Dog’ will hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on February 19, 2027, giving fans plenty of time to speculate on how the Fairbank family’s tale of greed and betrayal will unfold when the full film is finally released. With Ritchie’s busy release schedule this year, this latest project adds yet another entry to what is shaping up to be one of the most prolific periods of his career.
