Few festivals blend glamour with cinephile credibility quite like San Sebastián. The 74th edition, taking place from September 18 to 26 in Spain’s Basque Country, has attracted a star-studded guest list, including Naomi Watts, Penélope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, and Rami Malek. Among them is Brad Pitt, whose return has sparked significant buzz at the festival.

This marks his first visit since 2009, when he presented ‘Inglourious Basterds’ alongside Quentin Tarantino. This time, he showcased ‘Heart of the Beast,’ a Paramount survival thriller directed by David Ayer, which screened out of competition. Earlier in the day, Pitt participated in a press event with Ayer and producer Olivia Hamilton.

As the evening unfolded, all eyes were on the red carpet. Pitt and his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, attended the ‘Heart of the Beast’ screening on Wednesday, September 23, a moment captured and shared by TMZ. Pitt, 62, looked sharp in a black suit, while de Ramon dazzled in a green dress featuring sheer detailing.

De Ramon’s outfit turned heads, featuring a forest-green lace gown with a structured plunging neckline, delicate straps, and a sheer skirt, complemented by minimal jewelry. This look contrasted with her earlier peach lace-trimmed gown at the film’s global premiere.

Their premiere appearance took place on September 16 in Franklin, Tennessee, where they were seen holding hands throughout the night. San Sebastián marks their second joint appearance during this press tour. At the Tennessee event, Pitt also shared stories about his dogs, revealing he recently welcomed a rescue into his home.

The couple is no stranger to festival red carpets, having made their debut at the 2024 Venice Film Festival for the premiere of ‘Wolfs.’ They have been linked romantically since 2022. De Ramon is a jewelry executive and has served as vice president of the Los Angeles-based brand Anita Ko since January 2020.

‘Heart of the Beast’ is a gripping survival story where Pitt portrays James Belmont, a retired Special Forces officer navigating the Alaskan mountains with his battle-scarred German Shepherd, Odin. After a harrowing plane crash, they find themselves stranded in the wilderness, forced to battle the elements for survival.

This film reunites Pitt with Ayer for the first time since 2014’s ‘Fury.’ The screenplay is penned by Cameron Alexander, featuring a cast that includes J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe, with Damien Chazelle among the executive producers. Filmed in New Zealand, which stands in for Alaska, the movie runs for 101 minutes and is rated PG-13.

Early reviews have been mixed, with many highlighting the performances of the lead actors. Variety praised Pitt’s portrayal, noting that the dog playing Odin, an animal actor named Uber, delivers one of the most memorable canine performances in years. Deadline described it as an emotional roller coaster, while the Hollywood Reporter acknowledged that the film can feel repetitive but credited Ayer’s direction and brisk pace for keeping it engaging.

Conversely, some critics were more cautious. IndieWire remarked that while Pitt remains a movie star, the film’s lack of backstory and its late-act moralizing detract from its impact. This range of opinions suggests that the film’s appeal may hinge on how viewers connect with its straightforward man-and-dog narrative.
