Chadwick Boseman’s legacy continues to be a cherished topic for his family, with tributes and public remembrances ongoing years after his passing. However, beneath this public admiration lies a growing and contentious dispute regarding the management of his estate.

This conflict began in July when Boseman’s brothers, Derrick and Kevin, filed a petition on behalf of their parents to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, from her role as administrator of the estate. They claimed that significant assets, including royalties and intellectual property rights, had not been fully distributed nearly four years after a court order was issued in 2022.

In response, Ledward Boseman has directly countered these allegations. Recent court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that she asserts she has been generous with the late actor’s family, rejecting claims of a lack of transparency regarding the estate’s finances.

According to her filing, Ledward Boseman states she has provided Carolyn and Leroy Boseman with over $1.7 million since 2022, which includes a $1.5 million payment made in May 2023, an additional $260,000 later that year, and just over $4,000 in December 2024. She also mentions that she voluntarily gifted $300,000 to Derrick’s four children from her personal funds, believing it reflected Chadwick’s wishes for them.

Ledward Boseman’s attorney, Adam Streisand, described the brothers’ petition as a “public-relations stunt to smear her in the tabloid press,” according to documents reviewed by both the Los Angeles Times and ABC News. Her response insists that she has adhered to the 2022 distribution order and that no estate asset has been lost, wasted, or mismanaged during her administration.

Regarding one asset she acknowledges withholding, an IRA account valued at approximately $300,000, Ledward Boseman explains that a financial institution has withheld those funds due to demands related to the ongoing family dispute, and she plans to distribute it once that issue is resolved.

The brothers present a contrasting narrative. Their July petition claimed that their parents had waited nearly four years for a complete distribution and accused Ledward Boseman of maintaining unilateral control over the estate without significant input from Leroy and Carolyn. They requested the court appoint Jason Rubin, a professional fiduciary and forensic accountant, to replace her and conduct a comprehensive accounting of the estate’s assets.

The complexity of the situation stems from the manner in which Boseman’s estate was structured. The ‘Black Panther’ star passed away in August 2020 without a will, shortly after secretly marrying Ledward Boseman, leaving the court to decide how his assets would be divided between his widow and his parents.

A probate order established in 2022 outlined the distribution framework, but the brothers’ petition claims the process has not been fully completed since then. Ledward Boseman’s team disputes this characterization, presenting her financial records as evidence of consistent generosity rather than withholding.

With both parties now offering starkly different accounts in court filings, the dispute over Boseman’s estate shows no signs of a quiet resolution.
