Paris Fashion Week often begins with a bang, but this season kicked off with a stunning dinner at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Hosted by Tiffany & Co., the event set the stage for the upcoming womenswear collections for spring and summer 2027. The Tiffany & M.A.D. dinner was a perfect prelude to the week ahead.

This gathering marked the launch of a new collaboration between the jeweler and the museum. Over the next four years, the initiative will focus on restoring and digitizing a Jean Schlumberger archive that includes more than 10,000 items, featuring 5,000 drawings alongside documents, photographs, and personal papers. Tiffany’s president and CEO Anthony Ledru emphasized the importance of this project in preserving and enhancing the understanding of the designer’s legacy.

Among the attendees, Anya Taylor-Joy’s look at the Tiffany & M.A.D. dinner was particularly eye-catching. Captured by Pierrick Rocher for BFA, she donned a strapless gray satin gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and a sheer lace skirt. Her long blonde hair cascaded in soft waves, complemented by a delicate necklace and bracelet as she posed gracefully on the museum’s ornate stone staircase.

The setting was perfect for Taylor-Joy, a longtime Tiffany ambassador. She has previously starred in the house’s Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. and Blue Book 2023 high jewelry campaigns, photographed by Craig McDean. In a Tiffany press release, she remarked on the brand’s rich history of design and craftsmanship.

Taylor-Joy’s connection to Schlumberger’s designs predates her recent campaigns. She wore his jewelry to the Golden Globes, where she received a nomination for ‘The Menu’ after winning for ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ the previous year. Last November, she also illuminated a giant Bird on a Rock installation over Fifth Avenue for Tiffany’s holiday celebration.

Taylor-Joy was joined by several other stars, including Diane Kruger, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Greta Lee, Amanda Seyfried, and Adria Arjona, who posed together in front of a backdrop that read “I am only a pencil,” a nod to Schlumberger himself. Reports from Just Jared also noted that Cynthia Erivo was in attendance.

Erivo wore a coordinated Khaite bomber jacket and maxiskirt in glossy dark blue, accessorized with over $50,000 worth of Tiffany jewels, as reported by WWD. The publication also highlighted Taylor-Joy and Greta Lee as Tiffany ambassadors among the high-profile guests. The evening was a showcase where the jewelry spoke as loudly as the gowns.

The dinner also marked the launch of an immersive exhibition titled ‘I Am Only a Pencil’, curated in collaboration with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. This exhibition explores the journey from a simple stroke of graphite to a finished high jewelry masterpiece, pairing delicate historical works on paper with the physical treasures they inspired.

For attendees, the allure lies in viewing the sketches alongside the completed pieces. It offers a rare glimpse into how a designer’s vision transforms into a wearable object. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts contributed scientific expertise to the preservation efforts.

Schlumberger’s artistry has been pivotal in defining Tiffany since 1956, with his nature-inspired creations remaining central to the brand. His iconic design, Bird on a Rock, debuted in 1965 and continues to be one of the house’s most recognizable pieces. Even decades after his passing in 1987, his influence is evident.

This year, Tiffany’s Blue Book 2026 collection, titled Hidden Garden, reinterprets several of his most iconic designs in fresh color combinations. The Monarch necklace, inspired by an archival Schlumberger design, was highlighted as a standout piece during Paris Couture Week.

Interestingly, the dinner was not centered around a new product launch. As one analysis suggested, framing the evening around Schlumberger’s archive signifies a shift toward storytelling rather than straightforward promotion, a clever strategy to keep a heritage brand feeling contemporary.

For fans of red-carpet fashion, the images of Taylor-Joy are undoubtedly the highlight. The soft satin, delicate lace, and golden waves created a timeless look that perfectly suited the museum’s ambiance, while the jewelry drew attention to Tiffany’s legacy. It was a subtle yet striking appearance from an ambassador who clearly understands the brand’s rich history.
