LEGO ‘Dragon Ball’ Shenron & Goku Set Release Date and Details Revealed
The quest for the 7 Dragon Balls is one of pop culture’s most iconic adventures. In the original manga, Son Goku and Bulma embark on a journey to find these orbs, which summon a dragon that grants wishes. This legendary tale, created by Akira Toriyama in 1984, has now been transformed into a LEGO set featuring ‘Dragon Ball’ Shenron & Goku.
The excitement began on September 22 when LEGO released a teaser video showcasing 6 Dragon Balls on a table, with a 7th ball joining them. The caption hinted at a wish being granted, leading many to speculate that a Shenron display was on the way, aimed at adult fans.
Those speculations were confirmed when leaked images from Brick Tap emerged on September 28, revealing product number 11390, which includes 1,764 pieces and is priced at $180.
On September 29, the official LEGO Japan account on X made the announcement official. Their post encouraged fans to share their wishes and confirmed that the adventure with LEGO ‘Dragon Ball’ starts here, with a release date set for November 4 for the Dragon Ball Shenron & Son Goku set (11390). The accompanying 11-second video has already garnered over 393.6K views.

This set is part of the LEGO Icons line and is recommended for adults aged 18 and older, with a price tag of £129.99 / $179.99 / €139.99. Once assembled, it stands at 12.5 inches tall.
The model features Shenron in a striking coiled position, emerging from the 7 Dragon Balls. To ensure stability, the dragon wraps around a large brick pillar, while the Dragon Balls are Technic balls adorned with 1 to 7 stars.
Goku is included as a minifigure, depicted as Kid Goku riding the Kintoun, with the option to detach and reposition him. The set also comes with his Power Pole and a newly designed hair piece to capture his iconic spiky look. The plaque features the original manga logo, and young Goku retains his Saiyan tail.
The designer of the dragon, Senior Model Designer Jae Won Lee, is a devoted fan of the franchise. He shared that the dragon has four legs because Shenron is inspired by the Asian dragon, and he mentioned that connecting the snake-like body with square bricks posed a unique challenge.
LEGO Insiders will have early access to the set starting November 1, with general availability from November 4 through LEGO Stores and LEGO.com/DragonBall, aligning with the date mentioned in the LEGO Japan announcement.
This launch marks just the beginning. The set is the first in a new collaboration between the LEGO Group and Toei Animation, with additional Dragon Ball sets expected to be released in 2027 and beyond. LEGO senior VP Federico Begher hinted that more exciting products are on the horizon.
Speculation is already swirling about what future sets might include. Reports suggest a first wave of 9 sets is planned for April, featuring minifigures of Goku, Frieza, Vegeta, and the entire Ginyu Force, along with a rumored 18+ Kame House set. However, none of this has been officially confirmed by LEGO as of yet.
The timing of this release is significant, as LEGO has been increasingly embracing anime themes. A full ‘One Piece’ collection is in the works, and a LEGO Ideas ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ set is also being developed. Given that ‘Dragon Ball’ has been one of LEGO’s most requested franchises, fans have eagerly anticipated this moment.
Initial reactions have been positive. In a Reddit discussion about the leaked images, one user remarked that it exceeded their expectations, with others drawing favorable comparisons to LEGO’s Rayquaza build.
