Jessica Alba (45) Ditches Gowns for Chic Black Suit at ‘Digger’ Premiere
Every major Tom Cruise premiere serves as a Hollywood reunion, and Jessica Alba’s appearance at the ‘Digger’ premiere was no exception. The actress has a longstanding connection with Cruise, and the Los Angeles event attracted many of his former collaborators.
Directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, this film marks his first English-language feature since ‘The Revenant’ and comes with a significant rollout. It had its world premiere in London on September 22, where Catherine, Princess of Wales, joined Cruise on the red carpet.
The US premiere took place on Monday, September 28, at the Directors Village theater in Westwood. The carpet stretched along Broxton Avenue, featuring a giant rust-covered shovel as a striking backdrop. Alba made her entrance in sharp black tailoring instead of a traditional gown.

Alba sported a double-breasted black blazer over a black satin bandeau top, paired with matching wide-leg trousers. She posed confidently with one hand in her pocket, the shovel from the set design visible behind her.
Her honey-blonde hair cascaded in loose, center-parted waves, complemented by layered necklaces featuring a turquoise pendant for a pop of color. Fashion outlets noted her shift from gowns to power tailoring, with Fiction Horizon highlighting the black suit as one of the evening’s standout looks.

Alba’s ties to Cruise date back to ‘The Eye’, which she starred in and he produced. She was among several familiar faces from his past projects who came out to show their support.
Others in attendance included ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Days of Thunder’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer, ‘Collateral’ director Michael Mann, ‘The Mummy’ co-star Sofia Boutella, and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ actor Greg Tarzan Davis.

The premiere featured a robust cast, with Cruise joined by co-stars Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, Emma D’Arcy, and Michael Stuhlbarg, along with Iñárritu and producer Mary Parent.
Kirsten Dunst, attending with her husband Plemons, wore a black dress with contrasting light trim and pale blue heels. Kerry Condon, Miles Caton, and Jared Hess were also among the guests.
Cruise, 64, donned a dark Armani suit with an open-collar shirt. He took time to greet fans, posing for selfies and signing autographs for hours as the crowd chanted his name.

‘Digger’ is a satirical comedy featuring Cruise as Digger Rockwell, an ambitious oil tycoon racing against time to prove himself as a disaster he created threatens the world. Iñárritu directed from a script he co-wrote with Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolás Giacobone, and Sabina Berman, and the film was shot entirely in VistaVision.
It is set to open in theaters and IMAX across North America on October 2. Early reviews have been mixed, with DiscussingFilm noting that while Cruise’s wild energy keeps the uneven story moving, the script can feel hollow at times.
With a star-studded cast, notable collaborators, and the giant shovel, the premiere turned into one of the biggest red carpet events of the season. Alba’s sleek black suit provided a stylish contrast to the film’s chaotic tone.

The evening also highlighted Cruise’s loyalty to those he has collaborated with, a theme that has consistently been present at his premieres over the years.
