‘Elsbeth’ Season 4 Release Date, Time, Where to Watch, Cast, and Trailer Details

The CBS crime comedy ‘Elsbeth‘ is set to make its return on Thursday, October 8, with the premiere episode titled “Crazy in Love.” CBS announced the new season on January 22, as part of ten renewals for the network. After a long wait, fans of Carrie Preston’s often underestimated attorney can finally mark their calendars.

The comeback of ‘Elsbeth’ brings a new time slot, an impressive guest lineup, and some unresolved family dynamics. Here’s everything you need to know about the release date, air time, where to watch, and what to expect from the premiere.

The premiere episode, “Crazy in Love,” is scheduled to air on October 8, 2026, making it one of the first major Thursday night offerings of the new fall schedule on CBS.

This renewal was part of a larger announcement that included nine other series pickups, bringing the total number of shows ordered for the new broadcast season to sixteen. Initially, reports indicated that the show would premiere in the fall, with September or October as potential windows. Ultimately, October was chosen.

Fans won’t have to wait long for more episodes, as the second episode, titled “Death of a Playwright,” will air on Thursday, October 15. New episodes will then continue to release weekly on CBS.

New episodes of ‘Elsbeth’ will air on Thursdays at 9pm ET/PT, which is an earlier time slot compared to its previous schedule, where it mostly aired at 10/9c. This change is due to ‘Matlock’ moving to midseason, resulting in a reshuffling of the lineup. For long-time viewers, this means an earlier bedtime and a new Thursday routine.

According to one schedule report, ‘Elsbeth’ will be followed by ‘Cupertino,’ a new legal drama from Robert and Michelle King, keeping the creative team together on the same night.

For those wondering where to catch ‘Elsbeth’ live and online, the simplest answer is CBS, where new episodes will air weekly. If you have an antenna or cable package, you’re all set.

Paramount+ subscribers on the Premium plan can watch the premiere as it airs live on their local CBS station through the Live TV hub, providing a straightforward option for cord-cutters.

‘Elsbeth’ is a spin-off of ‘The Good Wife,’ with the Kings serving as executive producers for both series. The show stars Preston and Wendell Pierce, following Elsbeth Tascioni as she collaborates with the NYPD in New York City.

In the premiere episode “Crazy in Love,” Elsbeth encounters a well-known marriage counselor named Serena Collyer, portrayed by Nicole Scherzinger, whose calm demeanor conceals a tumultuous and deadly passion. Teddy also sets a wedding date, and Gloria Reuben returns as Claudia Payne. The episode is penned by Sarah Beckett and directed by Nancy Hower.

The premiere will also pick up on several storylines. The third season concluded with Elsbeth’s romance with her Scottish partner, Angus, coming to an end. Alec won his campaign but lost his relationship with Elsbeth due to his dishonesty, while Teddy got engaged in the finale. Showrunner Jonathan Tolins mentioned to TV Insider that this leaves the possibility for Hernandez and Gold to return.

The guest star lineup for the new season is impressive. Nicholas Braun plays Jeremy Perrick, the son of a famous playwright who has always lived in his father’s shadow. TV Insider reported that his episode will also feature John Doman, Isaac Powell, Tommy Dorfman, Richard Thomas, and Betsy Aidem.

Jemima Kirke portrays Winter Redgrave, the stylish CEO of a lifestyle brand whose meticulously curated world is jeopardized by her sister, while Knicks star OG Anunoby makes a special cameo. Lea Michele plays a Pilates trainer named Darcy Miles, Nat Faxon portrays a country club member whose miraculous hole-in-one leads to murder, and Sam Richardson also joins the cast. With such a formidable lineup of characters, it will be intriguing to see who challenges Elsbeth the most, and whether Teddy’s wedding will bring his father Mike Tascioni back from the world of ‘The Good Wife’?
