Josh Hartnett and Tamsin Egerton are not often seen on the red carpet. Hartnett made a deliberate choice in the mid-2000s to step back from Hollywood, and the couple has long favored a more private life away from the glitz and glamour of showbiz events.

This makes their public appearances feel like special occasions. Their last outing together was at a UK red carpet event in summer 2024, and they reunited in January for the Jacquemus men’s show in Paris. That night, Hartnett sported a white pinstripe jacket with a matching tie, while Egerton opted for a vibrant red dress paired with a striking gold necklace.

Recently, the couple made a splash at the Albies in London on Friday, October 9. Hartnett donned a sleek black suit with a crisp white shirt and black tie, while Egerton chose a long-sleeved black dress featuring a high slit, sheer tights, and pointed black heels. They posed together in front of a backdrop showcasing the Clooney Foundation for Justice, Microsoft, and Gucci logos.

The all-black ensemble provided a stark contrast to the bold colors of their Paris appearance, lending the evening a sophisticated and understated vibe that perfectly aligns with their preference for a low-profile lifestyle.

Hartnett and Egerton reside in the UK with their four children. Hartnett casually mentioned the size of their family during a 2024 red carpet interview with Gold Derby.

The Albies are the annual awards presented by the Clooney Foundation for Justice, and this year’s ceremony at London’s Natural History Museum marked its fifth edition. George and Amal Clooney established the event in 2022, naming it after Justice Albie Sachs, the South African anti-apartheid leader who survived imprisonment, exile, and an assassination attempt.

This year’s honorees included Kyrgyz journalists Bolot Temirov and Makhabat Tazhibek Kyzy, Malawian girls’ rights advocate Vanessa Mwangala, American photojournalist Lynsey Addario, the Congolese organization Justice Plus, and Microsoft vice chair and president Brad Smith. The Clooneys expressed their desire for the honorees and all advocates for justice worldwide to know that they are being watched and supported.

George Clooney explained to The Hollywood Reporter the importance of the Albies in highlighting justice: “It feels like it’s in short supply.”

Hartnett and Egerton mingled with a star-studded guest list that included Emily Ratajkowski, Felicity Jones, Laura Dern, Isla Fisher, Emma Thompson, and Hannah Waddingham. Other notable attendees included Anna Wintour, Melinda Gates, and Poppy Delevingne.

Amal Clooney turned heads in a stunning gold sequined Gucci column gown featuring a wide neckline and delicate straps, a fitting choice for a night when Gucci joined as the newest Sentinel Sponsor and exclusive fashion partner. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty and Microsoft also returned as sponsors.

The glamour of the evening coincided with a busy week in London, as the BFI London Film Festival also attracted many celebrities to the city. For Hartnett, known for films like ‘Pearl Harbor’, ‘Black Hawk Down’, and ‘Oppenheimer’, and Egerton, recognized for her roles in ‘St. Trinian’s’ and ‘Love, Rosie’, this was a rare opportunity to share the red carpet.

The couple first met on the set of ‘The Lovers’ in 2011, began dating in 2012, and tied the knot in a private ceremony in London in November 2021. A source close to them once mentioned that they are content living a low-key life away from the public eye.

After years of maintaining their privacy, a red carpet date night like this one is sure to attract attention. Their infrequent appearances only make each one more significant.
