‘Haunted Hotel’ Season 3 Scripts Completed but Netflix Has Yet to Confirm Renewal
As Halloween approaches, it’s the ideal time to revisit the Undervale, and Netflix’s animated comedy ‘Haunted Hotel’ has returned for another season. The second set of episodes premiered on October 9, providing fans with a delightful mix of ghosts, demons, and family antics to enjoy.
Ordered straight to series after a competitive bidding war, ‘Haunted Hotel’ has quickly garnered a dedicated fanbase. Created by Matt Roller, known for his work on ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘Archer’, and ‘Community’, the show is produced by Titmouse, with Roller joined by executive producers Dan Harmon, Chris McKenna, and Steve Levy.
The series centers around Katherine, voiced by Eliza Coupe, a single mother managing the world’s most haunted hotel alongside her ghost brother Nathan, voiced by Will Forte. Her children, Ben and Esther, are voiced by Skyler Gisondo and Natalie Palamides, while Jimmi Simpson voices Abaddon, a powerful demon trapped in a young boy’s body. The first season debuted on September 19, 2025, featuring 10 episodes, followed by eight episodes in the second season.
Recently, Roller shared insights about the show’s future. In an interview with What’s on Netflix, he revealed that the scripts for a third season are complete, although Netflix has not yet granted the series a renewal.
Roller is aiming for a 10-episode third season, hoping for a release before Halloween 2027. This timeline would maintain the show’s tradition of spooky-season premieres, aligning with its annual return.
This update comes at a crucial time, as Netflix has not yet confirmed a renewal for a third season, and the status remained unchanged following the second season’s launch. Roller has emphasized that the show’s future hinges on viewer numbers, urging fans to tune in to ensure more episodes can be produced.

The series has shown promise on Netflix, with ‘Haunted Hotel’ being renewed for a second season just a week after its debut. The first season achieved significant success, ranking among the top 10 English-language series on the platform during its opening weekend, amassing 1.8 million views within the first three days. Critics provided mixed to positive reviews, praising its unique approach to grief while some felt it lacked distinctiveness.
The second season’s launch was equally playful, featuring a teaser where Abaddon humorously disrupted Netflix’s menu, poking fun at other Halloween programming—a clever nod to the show’s irreverent style. Returning voice talents include Drew Tarver as Lonny and Duncan Trussell as Stabby Paul.
Having the scripts ready is advantageous, as animation requires extensive time for writing, recording, design, and post-production before a premiere. This preparation positions the production well should Netflix decide to proceed.

Fans have many theories about what a third season might explore, including the mysteries surrounding the Black Forest’s attack on the hotel and the reasons behind Abaddon’s inability to regain his true demonic powers. Katherine’s attempts to grow the business and enhance safety for guests could also be significant plot points.
These unresolved threads suggest that a longer run would be fitting, even though the show could also conclude without answering all questions. For now, the ball is in Netflix’s court.
To support the show’s continuation, Roller encourages fans to stream the new season. With scripts finalized and a target release date in mind, the series is poised for another stay if Netflix decides to book it.
