A Brand-New Chapter for Thor Is Coming This August in ‘Thor’ #1

A brand-new chapter for Thor is coming this August! Marvel has announced Thor #1, a fresh start for the character written by Al Ewing with art by Pasqual Ferry. This comes right after Immortal Thor #25, marking a big shift in the story.

For months, readers have seen hints of Thor’s possible end in Immortal Thor. But now, a new journey begins, one that brings Thor back down to Earth. Al Ewing continues his epic storytelling, and artist Pasqual Ferry, known for his work on Matt Fraction’s Thor run, returns to bring the action to life.

Marvel says this is unlike anything seen in Thor’s 60+ year history. It’s not just a new story, it’s a whole new version of the legend.

Marvel teased what to expect with these words:

“The Norse Myths tell of Gods who walked the Earth, doing great deeds for the mortals who believed in them. But Asgard isn’t real, and never was. The Gods never soared in our skies, never stood with our heroes, never fought for kindness or justice. It was all just a story. Nobody’s coming to help us. But somewhere in the city… a man is waking up.
A man with a hammer.”

It sounds like something strange and exciting is happening. Is Thor still the same? Or is he someone, or something, new?

Al Ewing gave fans a clue about what’s coming: “Since the very first issue of Immortal Thor, Thor’s been facing the end of his tale… but that was only the end of Act One,” Ewing said. “As the next chapter begins, Thor must face threats he’s never faced, from a place he’s never been… until now. Is he alive? Is he dead? Is he immortal… or much, much more? You’ll have to join us to find out.”

Fans will soon get a look at the cover of Thor #1, drawn by the legendary Alex Ross. Keep your eyes open, it will be revealed after Immortal Thor #25 hits shelves this July!
