Pip Fitz-Amobi is back, bringing along a compelling new cast. ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ has emerged as one of the most talked-about young adult mystery adaptations recently, and the anticipation for its second season is palpable. This season promises not only a darker storyline but also an influx of fresh talent joining the beloved returning characters in Little Kilton.

Set to premiere on May 27, the new season adapts Holly Jackson’s novel ‘Good Girl, Bad Blood’, featuring six episodes, each running approximately 45 minutes. The cast of ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ season 2 is a captivating mix of familiar faces and exciting newcomers, with Jackson expressing her admiration for the entire ensemble.

Emma Myers returns as Pip, alongside Zain Iqbal as Ravi Singh, with the story picking up after their investigation into the disappearance of student Andie Bell. Myers, recognized for her roles in ‘Wednesday’ and ‘Family Switch’, reprises her role as the determined teen sleuth navigating the aftermath of her first major case.

In an exclusive behind-the-scenes feature with Netflix Tudum, Myers shared her nostalgic feelings about the season, highlighting its significance to her and her eagerness for audiences to experience it.

Returning cast members include Asha Banks as Cara Ward, Yali Topol Margalith as Lauren Gibson, and Jude Morgan-Collie as Connor Reynolds. Henry Ashton also returns as Max Hastings, whose upcoming trial plays a pivotal role in the new mystery.

Anna Maxwell Martin reprises her role as Leanne Fitz-Amobi, and Mathew Baynton returns as Elliot Ward, completing the core ensemble from the first season.

New additions to the cast include Eden H. Davies, known for ‘Tell Me Everything’, who joins as Jamie Reynolds, Connor’s quiet yet popular musician brother whose sudden disappearance ignites the season’s central mystery. Although the character is largely absent, the role requires an actor whose presence resonates throughout the episodes.

Misia Butler, recognized for her role in ‘KAOS’, joins as Stanley Forbes, a character with connections that may run deeper than they seem. In the source novel, Stanley is a journalist who extensively covered the Andie Bell case, making his absence in the first season surprising and his arrival in this season highly anticipated.

Jack Rowan, known from ‘Noughts and Crosses’, takes on the role of Charlie Green, Pip’s new neighbor who becomes embroiled in the mystery unfolding in Little Kilton. Freddie England portrays Robin, a non-book character who enters the friendship group and begins dating Lauren.

Additional new cast members include Anna Brindle, Peter Sullivan, Freddie Thorp, Lu Corfield, and Stephanie Street, each playing significant roles throughout the six episodes.

Holly Jackson has stepped into the role of co-showrunner this season alongside Poppy Cogan, ensuring her influence is felt throughout the new chapters. Jackson’s personal investment in the casting choices is evident in her public statements about the new talent.

Expressing genuine excitement about returning to the story, Jackson stated she is “beyond thrilled” to continue Pip’s journey and expressed gratitude to the dedicated fans who made a second season possible. She has welcomed the new cast members with enthusiasm, praising their talent and contributions to the ‘AGGGTM’ family.

Regarding Eden H. Davies’ portrayal of the missing Jamie Reynolds, Jackson remarked on his sensational performance, noting his presence is felt throughout the season despite his limited screen time. For Misia Butler, she described her as the perfect Stanley Forbes, commending her heart-wrenching performance.

Jackson reserved high praise for Jack Rowan, calling his work as Charlie Green extraordinary, stating she had to applaud while watching him on set. Such enthusiasm from an author protective of her characters speaks volumes about what audiences can expect.

The season’s official logline positions Pip as a young woman determined to mend the fallout from solving the Andie Bell case while avoiding further investigations, until Jamie Reynolds disappears, forcing her into a race against time to find him.

Filming wrapped across two blocks, with Asim Abbasi directing the first and Jill Robertson the second. Moonage Pictures produced the series for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three in collaboration with Netflix and ZDFneo, continuing the international partnership that contributed to the original season’s global success.

Cogan expressed her delight in returning to Little Kilton with Pip and the cast, eager to bring another of Holly’s gripping stories to life. The collaborative energy between Jackson and Cogan, now sharing showrunner duties, enhances the season with both literary authenticity and sharp production instincts.

With an expanded ensemble, heightened emotional stakes, and the introduction of fan-favorite characters like Stanley Forbes, ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ season 2 is poised to surpass its already impressive predecessor. The big question remains whether fans of ‘Good Girl, Bad Blood’ believe the show has finally done justice to Stanley Forbes’ character.
