Adria Arjona’s Impressive Physique for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Sparks Wonder Woman Speculation
James Gunn’s DC Universe is gaining traction since the release of Superman, with each casting update sending fans into a frenzy. Among the most talked-about additions is Adria Arjona, whose role in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has kept the internet buzzing for months.
The actress, known for her work in ‘Andor’ and ‘Morbius’, officially joined the cast earlier this year, but Warner Bros has been tight-lipped about her character. This secrecy has only intensified speculation, especially after fans got a glimpse of her rigorous physical training for the role.
Personal trainer Paolo Mascitti, who also helped David Corenswet bulk up for his portrayal of Superman, has been sharing updates on Arjona’s transformation via Instagram. His latest post features the actress in a black sports bra and leggings, showcasing a noticeably leaner and more defined physique than in previous training videos, reigniting the debate over her character.

Reports suggest that Arjona is set to portray Maxima, the warrior queen of Almerac who comes to Earth in search of a worthy mate, particularly targeting Superman in the comics. Known for her psionic abilities and enhanced strength, this could easily justify the intense weight training documented by Mascitti since filming commenced.
Despite these reports, a significant number of fans are convinced that Arjona is actually playing Wonder Woman, a role many had envisioned for her long before ‘Man of Tomorrow’ began production. This theory has gained traction with each new training post, as fans point to her increasingly toned physique as evidence of preparation for a more significant role than just a supporting antagonist.
The uncertainty is compounded by the fact that Arjona trains with Corenswet’s trainer, who has a history of preparing actors for demanding superhero roles. Whether she embodies Maxima’s powers or dons Diana’s iconic armor, her dedication to physical transformation indicates that her role will be anything but passive.
‘Man of Tomorrow’ features Superman forming an uneasy alliance with Lex Luthor as they confront the formidable threat posed by the artificial intelligence villain Brainiac. David Corenswet reprises his role as Clark Kent, with Nicholas Hoult returning as Luthor and Lars Eidinger as Brainiac.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, among others. Filming has taken place in various locations, including Trilith Studios in Atlanta, the United Kingdom, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Some fans have noted parallels between the film’s storyline and the 1992 comic arc ‘Panic in the Sky’, where Maxima initially allies with Brainiac before ultimately joining forces with Superman and other heroes. If Gunn is drawing inspiration from this storyline, it could explain why Arjona’s character arc demands such a high level of physical intensity from the outset.
Reactions to Arjona’s transformation have been predictably mixed online. Some fans fully embrace the Maxima theory, arguing that it would be unrealistic for Gunn to introduce Wonder Woman in a Superman sequel rather than her own standalone film.
Others firmly believe that her physique indicates a partnership with Corenswet that could lay the groundwork for a future Justice League dynamic. There are also concerns from fans about another high-profile role going to an actress who was already the subject of extensive online fan casting before her involvement was confirmed.
Regardless of where fans stand on the debate, one thing is clear as we approach the film’s July 2027 release: whatever role Arjona is set to play, her training suggests that Gunn is not asking her to simply stand around in a cape.
