New York Comic Con transformed TV panels into vibrant pop culture spectacles, and this year, the Javits Center was infused with gothic glamour. For Alexandra Daddario, the event felt like a homecoming, given her roots in New York City.

The ‘Percy Jackson’ star has spent years solidifying her place in the genre, from portraying the demigod daughter of Athena to leading AMC’s supernatural series ‘Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches’. Her appearance on the Main Stage felt more like a celebration than just a promotional stop.

Daddario dazzled in a shimmering pink sequined dress, paired with a warm smile, allowing the outfit’s delicate texture to speak for itself. This look provided a soft, sparkly contrast to the darker themes she was there to promote.

She later shared her Comic Con experience on Instagram with a post captioned “From morning until night,” showcasing her time at the convention and her show. The carousel included a voluminous vintage-style curled updo, glossy lips, and a plunging black neckline, along with a mirror shot featuring a black dress and pale pink pointed heels.

Fans in the comments embraced the theme, with one humorously suggesting that the witch had cast a spell on them. Others simply praised her beauty, highlighting the successful blend of glam and gothic.

The Friday afternoon panel featured Daddario alongside Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, Betsy Brandt, and Eliza Scanlen. Co-showrunners Esta Spalding and Tom Schnauz, along with executive producer Mark Johnson, joined them on stage, moderated by TV Guide’s Damian Holbrook.

The highlight was the announcement of a new title and premiere date. The third season is now titled ‘Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches: Salem Coven’, set to debut on Wednesday, December 30, exclusively on AMC+. The panel also unveiled a first-look teaser trailer.

As the title suggests, Daddario’s character Rowan Fielding is leaving New Orleans for Salem, Massachusetts. Spalding summarized the shift, stating that the season is “bigger and bolder and very Salem-centric,” as reported by AIPT.

Rowan is now more powerful, thanks to the demon Lasher’s influence from the previous season. To balance this, a new character named Jessica, portrayed by Scanlen, is introduced. Jessica is a less experienced witch, allowing Rowan to take a more dominant role.

The clip shown during the panel hinted at this dynamic, with Rowan learning from Jessica about the risks of using magic in Salem, only to break those rules almost immediately.

Daddario expressed her excitement about the season’s humor, stating it aligns with her personal style. She also connected Rowan’s new weariness with her own life experiences, noting her recent transition into motherhood and turning 40.

She cautioned that the Mayfair family’s challenges are far from over, hinting at a tumultuous reunion in Salem.

Romance is also on the horizon. Daddario joked that Rowan is always on the lookout for a new love interest and has found one, with the season’s description teasing a love interest with a hidden secret. Additionally, a remixed track from Lestat’s rock-star era will feature in an episode, connecting to the broader Anne Rice Immortal Universe at AMC.

The new season introduces several new cast members, including Brandt, Michiel Huisman, Scanlen, James Frain, and Omar Maskati, while Hamlin, Chirisa, and Alyssa Jirrels return. This ensemble is significant for a show transitioning to a new location with fresh mythology.

The teaser emphasized the stakes, with Rowan lamenting that her life has been filled with pain and loss for those she loves, all to fulfill an ancient prophecy, while warning that nothing is guaranteed.

With a shift towards humor, a move to Salem, and a more empowered heroine, ‘Mayfair Witches’ appears poised for its most ambitious chapter yet. Judging by her stunning appearance at Comic Con, Daddario is ready to lead the coven.
