‘American Horror Story’ Season 13 Release Date, Time, Plot, Cast, Trailer and Where to Watch
Tonight is the night. FX has set the premiere for September 24, after initially indicating that the season would arrive around Halloween 2026. For a franchise that has spent years teasing a significant reunion, the wait is almost over.
‘American Horror Story’ has always thrived on reinvention, but this time it is revisiting its own past. The trailers showcase characters from ‘Murder House’, ‘Coven’, ‘Freak Show’, ‘Apocalypse’, ‘Cult’, ‘Hotel’, and ‘1984’ all converging in a single season. Here’s everything you need to know before the lights go out.
The season kicks off on Thursday, September 24, featuring 13 half-hour episodes. This shorter runtime is significant, as it suggests that each chapter will progress quickly, ensuring viewers won’t be left waiting through a slow middle stretch.

The rollout is front-loaded. The premiere week and the second week will each feature three episodes, followed by two episodes released every Thursday. The 13th and final episode is scheduled for October 29.
Production wrapped just before the marketing blitz began. Filming commenced on April 6, 2026, and concluded on July 28, 2026. This is a relatively quick turnaround for a season packed with content.
If you plan to watch live, mark your calendar for the evening. The premiere airs at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT on FX and Hulu, placing the opener in prime time for most North American viewers.
For cord-cutters, there’s a straightforward option. TV Insider lists the premiere on FX at 9/8c, with episodes available on Hulu the following day. Anyone without cable can simply wait for the streaming release.
With the first two weeks offering three episodes at a time, the season begins with a solid binge opportunity. Fans who enjoy marathoning their horror will have plenty to dive into before the pace shifts to twice-weekly episodes.
The highlight of this season is Jessica Lange. Her casting was a genuine surprise, especially since she stated in a February 2025 interview that she wouldn’t be returning. Ryan Murphy clearly knew how to persuade her.
Lange is not returning for just one role; she will reprise four of her previous characters, including Constance Langdon and Fiona Goode. She will also return as Elsa Mars from ‘Freak Show’.
The rest of the cast reads like a greatest hits reunion. Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman are all back, along with Frances Conroy, Jamie Brewer, John Carroll Lynch, Mena Suvari, and Mat Fraser. John Waters also joined the cast in February 2026.
Fans have had two major glimpses so far. The first trailer dropped on August 13, followed by a second on September 10, 2026. Both have ignited social media discussions about the number of familiar faces featured.
The teaser heavily leans into nostalgia, opening with Lange as Constance Langdon, who remarks on how good it is to be back. Lange has described the season as a celebration of miscreants, murderous demons, and profanity.
Familiar locations are returning as well. The latest trailer reveals that Fiona Goode’s personal hell, the knotty pine cabin from ‘Coven’, is back. The season also revisits Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies.
With Constance, Fiona, and Elsa all sharing a single season, the big question remains: which of Lange’s four returning characters will steal the show? Who do you think will haunt you the longest?
