‘MobLand’ Season 2 Episode 2 Release Date and Recap: ‘Song 2’ Sparks a Bloodbath
Paramount+’s ‘MobLand‘ has established itself through a slow-burn narrative, showcasing Tom Hardy’s fixer Harry Da Souza as he meticulously manages the chaos surrounding the Harrigan crime family. Created by Ronan Bennett and penned by Jez Butterworth, this crime drama has become one of the platform’s standout hits, with its second season unveiling a more fractured Harrigan family.
Season 2 kicks off right after a finale that left the family in turmoil, with Harry’s marriage to Jan on the rocks and a new adversary, Kat McAllister, threatening the Harrigans after Harry turned down her proposal to collaborate against them. The premiere episode, “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” introduces Johnny Flynn’s unpredictable gangster Frankie Cooper, who is recruited by the corrupt officer Colin Tattersall to undermine the family from within.
In episode two, titled “Song 2,” the tension finally erupts. What begins as a day filled with surveillance and brewing animosities culminates in Kat launching a multi-front assault on the Harrigans, leaving them scrambling to assess the damage.
The episode opens with Harry following his daughter Gina as she enjoys a party with Eddie Harrigan and their bodyguards. Meanwhile, Jan remains oblivious to Donnie, the enigmatic figure from Season 1 who pressured Harry to deal with Kat, as he deliberately crashes into her car. Frustrated with Harry, Jan tells him she wants a divorce, prompting him to immerse himself in work rather than confront his crumbling home life.
Harry’s work involves confirming that Gakbu acted under Kat’s orders before he eliminates him, while Kat discreetly finalizes alliances with both Seraphina Harrigan and Tattersall. Seraphina agrees to provide Kat with insider information on the Harrigans in exchange for assistance in claiming power in North London, giving Kat a strategic advantage as she prepares to strike.
The latter half of the episode unleashes Kat’s plan in a brutal sequence. Donnie arrives at a pub and murders Fergus in front of Paul before casually departing with his crew. Simultaneously, Frankie storms Bella’s home, shooting her bodyguards and cornering her during a phone call with Kevin.
Another crew attacks Eddie and Gina’s location, killing their bodyguards Roger and Rodway, but Harry’s surveillance pays off as he intercepts the assailants before they can reach the couple. A fourth team raids Zosia’s residence, abducting her, illustrating that Kat’s assault on the Harrigans was a coordinated effort to dismantle the family’s defenses from all angles.

As the credits roll, the Harrigans are left tallying their losses across multiple locations, with no clear understanding of who orchestrated the assault or why Kat chose this moment to strike. Bella’s fate remains uncertain after Frankie corners her, leaving viewers with a central question as they look forward to the next episode.
The attacks further emphasize the show’s ongoing theme of loyalty versus survival, as Harry’s choice to protect Gina and Eddie instead of pursuing the other crews reveals his priorities amidst his failing marriage. With Zosia now in enemy hands and Fergus dead, the Harrigans have suffered significant losses in both strength and morale in a single night. Kat’s willingness to hit multiple targets simultaneously indicates her determination to finish what she started rather than engage in negotiations.

‘MobLand’ has never shied away from showcasing its violence, and “Song 2” uses this brutality to reset the power dynamics as the season progresses. New episodes of ‘MobLand’ continue to air weekly on Paramount+ until the finale on November 20, leaving the Harrigans with little time to regroup before Kat, Frankie, and Tattersall return for more.
