Anne Hathaway has had an incredible year, starring in five films in 2026, including ‘Mother Mary’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, ‘The Odyssey’, ‘The End of Oak Street’, and ‘Verity’. Amidst her busy schedule and the announcement of her pregnancy in June, the Oscar-winning actress is already planning her next move, which intriguingly involves dinosaurs.

Her interest in prehistoric creatures stems from her role in ‘The End of Oak Street’, a sci-fi survival thriller about a family whose suburban neighborhood is unexpectedly transported back to prehistoric times. The film has performed well, grossing $120 million against a reported budget of $85 million, and is currently available for rent on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

Having faced off against dinosaurs on screen, Hathaway is eager for more. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, she expressed her enthusiasm for a role in a ‘Jurassic World’ film, claiming she could contribute her “dino knowledge” to the franchise.

Her pitch extended further as she offered to play a brunette sidekick for Scarlett Johansson, whether in ‘Jurassic World’ or any other project, stating that nothing would make her happier. This playful invitation to a fellow star is sure to circulate quickly online.

The film Hathaway is eyeing is the sequel to 2025’s ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’. This seventh installment of the franchise is set five years after ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ and will be directed by Gareth Edwards. Johansson reprises her role as covert operations expert Zora Bennett, leading a team on a secret mission to a remote island.

The box office numbers indicate why Universal is not stepping away from the franchise. ‘Rebirth’ concluded its theatrical run with $869 million, making it the lowest-grossing film in the ‘Jurassic World’ series, yet it still managed to have a successful run despite not reaching the $1 billion mark. Reports from Deadline confirm that a sequel is currently in development.

Details about the sequel are still being finalized. Variety has reported that Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey are set to return, with screenwriter David Koepp expected to pen the script, and the studio aiming to begin production in 2027. However, there has been no confirmation regarding Hathaway’s casting, and Universal had not officially greenlit the sequel when ScreenRant checked in earlier this year.

Johansson understands the desire to join this franchise. She revealed to Vanity Fair that she spent years forwarding trade reports about new ‘Jurassic Park’ films to her agents, eager to be part of the series. A co-star who has campaigned that hard might be sympathetic to Hathaway’s wish.

For now, Hathaway’s interest in the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise remains a hopeful wish rather than a confirmed plan, but she has plenty on her plate in the meantime. ‘Verity’ is set to debut on October 2, marking the fifth and final film of her busy year. With such a packed release schedule, she has acknowledged the challenges of managing it all.

Hathaway mentioned to Extra that as long as audiences don’t tire of her presence, she is content to keep all her release dates intact. If the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise ever comes calling, it seems she is ready to make space for it.
