Marvel’s promotional strategy for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has been notably centered on one character. Since the summer, nearly every poster and marketing piece has focused on Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down. Each new artwork tends to ignite fresh discussions among fans.

This approach began early on. The first poster featuring only Doom was released alongside the initial full trailer, depicting Victor von Doom bowing before a Latverian mural. A subsequent one-sheet released on August 14 showcased him in a dark green cloak against tall, green-tinted stained-glass windows, while another poster following the Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con maintained the focus solely on Doom.

Now, a new piece of artwork is making waves. A Spanish-language poster for the film has started circulating online, shared by the fan account drdoomarchive, which claims it originated from Comic Con Málaga. This artwork features Doom from behind, cloaked and hooded, ascending a long staircase toward a towering citadel illuminated by an eerie green glow.

Hooded figures flank the steps, prompting the fan account to celebrate Doom’s Latverian witches.

The witches have been a topic of discussion among fans previously. A recent ScreenX trailer for the film utilized a 270-degree panoramic format, revealing extra details at the edges of the frame, including Doom’s two Latverian witches seen on their knees, a detail only visible due to the expanded viewing area.

Latveria is a fictional European nation ruled by Doom in Marvel’s comics, with much of its economy reliant on his advanced inventions. The film’s marketing has embraced this setting, evident in the green glow of the stained-glass imagery and the throne-room staging. How much of this will translate to the film remains to be seen.

The movie is set to premiere on December 18, 2026, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, having been delayed from its original May 2026 release date. The story will feature heroes from three distinct universes, with characters from the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four confronting Doom. A sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, is slated for December 17, 2027.

The first full trailer, which debuted on July 20, provided audiences with their first look at Downey’s Doom in his iconic mask. In a later D23 special preview, Doom is seen overpowering Thor and commanding an army of X-Men Sentinels. The trailer concludes with a reunion between Thor and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

Marvel has also leveraged various events to build excitement. ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ hit theaters on September 25 as a re-release featuring four minutes of new footage filmed during ‘Doomsday’ production, bridging the two films. These new scenes include appearances by Doctor Doom, Loki, and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner.

Tickets for the film became available for all formats in mid-August, and the studio has maintained a steady stream of teasers. It remains unclear whether the Málaga poster will see a broader release, but it certainly adds another dimension to a marketing campaign that has positioned Doom as the face of the film.

Fan reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with the image rapidly spreading across social media. The poster also emphasizes how deeply the studio is investing in Latveria’s aesthetic, featuring green light, gothic architecture, and mystical figures. With just over two months until the release, more reveals are anticipated.
