Few television finales have left as profound an impact on fans as “Face Off,” the explosive Season 4 closer that showcased Walter White’s confrontation with Gus Fring, becoming one of the most discussed hours in television history. Nearly fifteen years later, this episode remains a highlight of the series.

This fall, ‘Breaking Bad’ fans will have a unique opportunity to experience that pivotal episode in a way it was never intended to be seen—on the big screen, surrounded by fellow enthusiasts.

Alamo Drafthouse has announced it will screen “Face Off” in select theaters on September 7, a date chosen to align with what fans celebrate as Breaking Bad Day, commemorating Walter White’s fictional birthday and the anniversary of the show’s original 2008 premiere. The event will take place at fifteen Alamo Drafthouse locations across the country, as reported exclusively by Collider.

Attendees will not just watch the episode; they will be fully engaged in the experience. Guests will receive a themed goodie bag filled with show-accurate memorabilia, including a Heisenberg hat, blue rock candy, a call bell, and a Gus Fring half-face mask, transforming the screening into a hands-on celebration rather than a mere rewatch.

The event, officially titled the Breaking Bad Day Fan Event, offers more than just props. A live host dressed in a yellow hazmat suit, reminiscent of Walt and Jesse’s cooking attire from the series, will guide the audience throughout the screening. Fans will be encouraged to ring their own bell in unison whenever Hector Salamanca rings his on screen, turning one of the show’s most memorable gags into a theater-wide tradition.

The evening will also feature a costume contest, allowing fans to dress as their favorite characters for a chance to win prizes. Alamo Drafthouse is promoting the screening as part of its Victory Screenings series, a special format designed to reward loyalty program members with unique theatrical events.

Entry to the screening requires a purchase, but attendees can secure free admission with a $10 food and drink voucher, which is fully redeemable and refundable during the event.

“Face Off” originally aired in October 2011 as the finale of ‘Breaking Bad’s’ fourth season, written and directed by series creator Vince Gilligan. This episode wraps up a season centered on the escalating conflict between Walter White and Gus Fring, culminating in Walt teaming up with Fring’s former cartel rival, the largely immobile Hector Salamanca, to finally take down the formidable drug lord.

This storyline, along with the episode’s iconic finale twist, has solidified “Face Off” as a fan-favorite for anyone looking to revisit the show’s tension-filled narrative. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, ‘Breaking Bad’ went on to earn sixteen Emmy Awards during its five-season run, including consecutive wins for Outstanding Drama Series.

With the entire series also available on Blu-ray for those wanting to revisit Walt and Jesse’s journey, the September 7 screening presents a rare chance for long-time fans to experience one of the show’s defining moments in a way that theatrical audiences never had the opportunity to before.
