Charlie Cox Teases Jessica Jones’ Comeback in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 and Their Sharp, Fun Dynamic

Charlie Cox has confirmed that Jessica Jones is returning in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, and fans can expect more of the fun back-and-forth between her and Matt Murdock.
In a recent episode of Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, the Daredevil star talked about Krysten Ritter stepping back into the role and teased what their dynamic will be like when the Disney+ show comes back.
Krysten Ritter was already spotted on set in New York, wearing her classic Jessica Jones look. While not much is known about what role she’ll play in the story, Cox gave fans a hint about where things pick up.
He brought up how the last time the two characters were together in The Defenders, Jessica believed Matt had died during the explosion underground. Matt’s survival was explained later in Daredevil Season 3, but the two never really had an on-screen moment to clear things up.
“What’s complicated is, when did Jessica Jones find out that I’m not dead?” Cox said. “Because at the end of Defenders everyone assumes I’m dead. I have no recollection of when she [finds out] and I don’t even know if that happens on or offscreen. But essentially, look, enough time has passed that you just assume that that obviously happened.”
Cox also shared how excited he is to work with Ritter again and talked about how Jessica and Matt’s relationship works on-screen. He said there’s a strong level of respect between the two characters, even if they don’t always see eye to eye.
“The fun thing about Jessica and Matt is they have a pretty fun dynamic. There’s a mutual respect for one another. I think she finds him overly serious and too much of a choir boy, and he finds her to be crass and making light of too many very serious situations, and [she’s] probably a bit more anti-hero than hero.”
The show’s writer and executive producer, Dario Scardapane, also added a few thoughts. He said seeing the two of them back together has been a real highlight while making Season 2.
“They’re very fun to write… When I got a chance to see them in frame together for the first time, it was the best.”
Jessica and Matt’s interactions in the Netflix shows were always entertaining, with Jessica usually throwing some sarcastic comments at Matt’s serious vibe. It sounds like Daredevil: Born Again will bring back that same energy and keep their friendship going in a way that feels familiar but fresh.
Season 2 is currently filming and is expected to hit Disney+ in 2026. Along with the return of Matt Murdock in the Daredevil suit, the show will also follow his fight against Wilson Fisk, who is now the Mayor and cracking down hard on vigilantes. With Jessica Jones back in the mix, things are about to get even more interesting.
