The fact that Chris Hemsworth is one of the most popular actors today shouldn’t be surprising. After starring as Thor in the MCU, the Australian actor has been making a name for himself and is one of the busiest actors today.

And while not every one of his movies was as successful as his MCU projects, he’s had solid success and his other projects have definitely helped in further increasing his popularity.

The fans are now waiting for his return in Avengers: Doomsday, but the Australian actor will do at least one more project before he comes back as the Asgardian God of Thunder.

And while Hemsworth has made a name for himself in the superhero genre, he’s also done his fair share of action movies and it seems that his next project is going to be exactly that.

It has been confirmed that Amazon MGM has greenlit the movie called Subversion, an action thriller desribed as “Die Hard in a submarine.” Hemsworth is signed on to play the main role in the movie.

Based on the information we have, the movie is hoping to start shooting this fall in Hemsworth’s home country, Australia, from a script written by Andrew Ferguson. The movie will be directed by Patrick Vollrath.

As for the plot, Hemsworth is going to play a once-respected naval officer who is now blackmailed into carrying illegal cargo in a dangerous submarine. Blackmailed by a cartel-like organization, Hemsworth will have to fight against the obstacles both inside and outside the submarine.

A release window has not been confirmed, but we assume that Amazon is aiminig for a 2026 release.
