Dafne Keen has emerged as a highly sought-after guest on the convention circuit, and her popularity is evident. Following her breakout performance in ‘Logan,’ her unexpected return in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ and her role in ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ fans are eager to hear her insights about the characters they adore. This year’s event in Massachusetts was no different.

The excitement continued at ‘Fan Expo Boston,’ where Keen engaged in a discussion about her career, the physical challenges of stunt work, and her evolving connection with the role that launched her career. Given the immense love for Laura Kinney since her introduction in ‘Logan’ back in 2017, it’s no surprise that X-23 was a focal point of the conversation.

A lighthearted moment occurred during the convention when Keen was seen donning a pair of X-23-style glasses onstage, humorously noting, “these are not going to fit my face but we” before continuing with the joke. This playful act echoed a similar moment from Fan Expo Canada just a week prior, indicating that the glasses have become a fun recurring theme between Keen and her fans on this tour.

This playful spirit carried into the more serious segments of the panel, where Keen expressed her desire for more time with the character in the future. In front of what was described as a record-breaking crowd, MovieWeb’s Joe Deckelmeier inquired whether she still felt she had “unfinished business” with Laura.

Speaking to MovieWeb during the Fan Expo Boston panel, Keen responded eagerly, calling Laura “such an interesting kind of tormented character” who “has so much more story to live.” She elaborated on her enduring interest in reprising the role, viewing Laura’s comic book history as a rich source of material still worth exploring on screen.

Keen’s enthusiasm for X-23 is not new. She has previously expressed a desire to continue portraying the character indefinitely, and her brief yet impactful appearance in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has only fueled fan interest in seeing Laura take on a more significant role in the future, especially given the positive reception of that cameo among longtime fans.

While Marvel Studios has yet to announce any plans involving Keen or X-23 beyond her cameo in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ speculation continues to swirl. With the MCU’s mutant storylines expanding and an ‘X-Men’ reboot underway, fans have proposed everything from an appearance in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ to a larger standalone arc for Laura down the line.

For now, none of this is official, and Keen’s remarks at Fan Expo Boston reflected her personal hopes for the character rather than any concrete plans from Marvel. Nevertheless, her willingness to continue appearing in X-23 mode, glasses and all, indicates that she is far from ready to close the chapter on Laura Kinney, regardless of the studio’s ultimate direction.

Fan Expo Boston concluded its latest event at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on August 9, featuring a lineup that also included stars from ‘Star Wars’ and ‘The Boys’ this year. For Keen, it was evident that the convention crowd still shows up eager to discuss one character above all others.
