Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett Shine at ‘Verity’ Premiere While Anne Hathaway Promotes in NYC

Colleen Hoover has established herself as a leading figure in transforming bestsellers into captivating Hollywood adaptations, and her psychological thriller repertoire continues to expand onscreen. Following the phenomenal success of ‘It Ends With Us,’ all eyes are now on ‘Verity,’ Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Hoover’s gripping 2018 novel, which sold over 1 million copies in 2023 alone.

The film has been gaining traction for months, starting from its reveal at CinemaCon to a steady stream of production images featuring Dakota Johnson covered in fake blood on the streets of New York. With the theatrical release just around the corner, the cast finally had the chance to celebrate their project on an international platform.

This celebration took place on September 24 at the Curzon Mayfair in London, where ‘Verity’ hosted its UK gala screening. Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, the film’s co-leads alongside Anne Hathaway, arrived together and posed for photos on the red carpet, with Johnson donning a cream lace dress from Colleen Allen’s Spring 2026 collection.

Hathaway’s absence from the London event was noticeable, particularly since she was seen doing press in New York City that same night. This aligns with reports indicating that Hathaway is in the final weeks of her pregnancy, having announced the news over three months ago, and air travel is generally discouraged during this late stage.

Despite missing the UK screening, Hathaway is not stepping back from promotion entirely, with a New York premiere for the film reportedly scheduled for the following week. ‘Verity’ marks Hathaway’s fifth film release this year, according to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, highlighting her busy schedule even as she prepares for a significant life change.

‘Verity’ follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer portrayed by Johnson, who lands what appears to be a dream opportunity when she is hired to ghostwrite for celebrated author Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway. While staying at the secluded Crawford estate to finish the author’s unfinished book series, Lowen discovers what seem to be Verity’s own autobiographical notes, filled with unsettling confessions about her husband Jeremy, played by Hartnett.

Michael Showalter directs the adaptation from a screenplay by Nick Antosca, with Hathaway also serving as one of the film’s producers alongside Hoover herself. The supporting cast features Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner, completing a thriller that heavily relies on the same slow-burn tension that made Hoover’s novel a sensation among readers.

‘Verity’ is set to hit theaters on October 2, giving fans just over a week to prepare for what critics and early audiences anticipate will be one of the most talked-about literary adaptations of the season. With Hathaway’s own red carpet moment still to come in New York, the film’s promotional journey is just beginning.
