‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Will Honor The Defenders, Says Deborah Ann Woll
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 is gearing up to be one of the most significant street-level Marvel narratives yet. With the anticipated returns of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Elektra, fans are curious if the expanding cast might overshadow Matt Murdock and his long-time allies.
However, Deborah Ann Woll reassures fans that the original ‘Daredevil’ characters will not be overlooked.
In an exclusive interview with The Direct, Woll shared insights about the upcoming third season and the challenge of integrating the returning Defenders alongside the characters central to the ‘Daredevil’ storyline. Woll, who portrays Karen Page in both the original series and ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ emphasized that Karen remains a priority for the show’s creators.
“I can say that Dario and the people who are creating the show, as well as myself, care deeply about Karen and what her storyline is,” Woll stated.
She elaborated that while Karen may not always take center stage in every episode or storyline, the team is committed to ensuring that each moment involving her is meaningful.
“Whatever time I do get or don’t get or whatever works, you know, we fight every single second to make sure that that is valuable story progressing time that is true to who she is,” she added.
This focus on character development is particularly crucial in Season 3, which will reintroduce several key figures from the previous Netflix Marvel series.

The expected returns of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Elektra have sparked speculation that ‘Born Again’ could evolve into a more extensive Defenders narrative.
Woll addressed this directly, expressing her hope that the final season will honor all characters involved.
“I’m hoping and confident that what we create in the end, because we’re still a few more days left on Season 3, will honor all of our stories,” she told The Direct.
This does not necessarily imply that Karen will have a diminished role. Woll did not specify how much screen time her character would have, leaving fans eager to see how the various storylines unfold in the new season.
Nonetheless, her remarks indicate that Marvel aims to avoid reducing the new Defenders’ appearances to mere cameos. Each returning hero carries their own narratives and unresolved arcs, while Karen, Matt Murdock, and the rest of the original ‘Daredevil’ cast have a rich history.
The timing of Woll’s comments is also significant, as the interview occurred just before the conclusion of Season 3’s production, suggesting she was discussing a story still in its final stages.
With the Defenders making their comeback and the street-level aspect of the MCU expanding, Season 3 could serve as a pivotal crossover chapter. However, based on Woll’s insights, the show does not intend to sacrifice its original characters for the sake of accommodating the returning heroes.
For fans of Karen, this may be the most reassuring takeaway. Even if she is not always at the forefront of the action, Woll’s comments imply that her narrative will continue to play a significant role in the next chapter of ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’
