Dario Scardapane Exits ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 During Post-Production
Marvel Television has been working diligently to stabilize its once-expansive Disney+ lineup, with ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ being viewed as one of the more successful outcomes of that effort. The return of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk provided the studio with a genuine flagship revival in its street-level segment of the MCU.
However, this stability faced an unexpected setback this week, as a series of behind-the-scenes changes unfolded rapidly. What was once a steady production has now turned into one of the more chaotic narratives within Marvel’s television division.
Sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that showrunner Dario Scardapane has exited ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3, with his contract not being renewed. This departure is particularly notable given the timing, as Scardapane is leaving in the midst of the season’s post-production phase, approximately two months after filming concluded.
This raises questions about who will ultimately guide the season to completion, especially considering how far along the post-production work was when the news broke. Marvel has not provided any official comment regarding the departure.
Scardapane’s ties to the Daredevil universe extend beyond ‘Born Again’, as he previously led the Netflix ‘Punisher’ series featuring Jon Bernthal. He returned to oversee ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ after the show underwent a significant creative overhaul during its initial development, which included a hiatus during the 2023 Hollywood strikes before being reworked to restore more original characters to the storyline.

Scardapane took over more fully with Season 2, guiding the show through what many critics deemed a significant improvement over its first season. His exit now comes at what would typically be the final stretch of completing the series’ third and reportedly final season.

Scardapane’s departure coincides with the announcement that Season 3 will conclude ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ entirely, wrapping up a series that successfully reintroduced several key figures from the original Netflix ‘Daredevil’ series. The season is still slated to premiere in March 2027, even without its longtime showrunner steering it to the finish line.
Given the extensive behind-the-scenes turbulence the series has experienced, from strike-related delays to a comprehensive creative overhaul, Scardapane’s exit adds yet another chapter to an already complex production history. It remains to be seen who Marvel will choose to complete the post-production tasks he leaves behind.
