DOOM: The Dark Ages ‘Revelations’ Release Date and Details Revealed

A new expansion for ‘DOOM: The Dark Ages’ has been officially announced. Titled ‘Revelations’, this expansion is set to launch on July 7 and continues the intense narrative of the DOOM Slayer, taking a darker and more psychological approach.

In this chapter, the Slayer finds himself not just battling demons but trapped in a twisted purgatory. Wounded and betrayed, he must confront unsettling truths about himself while seeking an escape. The story emphasizes survival, inner conflict, and a climactic showdown against a formidable god-like adversary.

According to the official description, “Wounded and betrayed, the Slayer is thrust into a merciless purgatory only escapable by confronting haunting truths and forging new strength with the help of a mysterious ally.” This sets the stage for a more narrative-driven expansion while maintaining the series’ signature intense combat.

The expansion will feature new environments and levels that blend traditional DOOM combat with more intricate designs. Players will encounter new demons and uncover secrets throughout the campaign. Additionally, gameplay will be enriched with new puzzle elements, introducing variety to the fast-paced action.

One of the standout additions is a new weapon known as the Chain Spear. This weapon alters combat dynamics, enabling players to engage enemies from various distances while remaining agile. It is crafted to reward skilled players who can effectively combine movement and timing during encounters.

The official description emphasizes this new system, stating it offers “a uniquely satisfying combat system that rewards mastery with a potent combination of power and mobility.” This indicates that combat will retain its fast-paced and aggressive nature, but with added tactical depth.

Alongside the expansion, a free update called Ripatorium 3.0 will also be released on July 7. This update enhances the game’s arena mode with improved customization options, new presets, and enhanced pass code systems. Players who purchase the ‘Revelations’ expansion will also receive bonus content, including new maps, demons, and upgraded weapons for the arena mode.

Players who opt for the Premium Edition or Collector’s Bundle will gain access to the expansion at no additional cost. Others can purchase it separately as downloadable content for $19.99 or upgrade to the Premium Edition.

‘DOOM: The Dark Ages’ remains available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC via Steam and Battle.net, as well as on Xbox platforms. It is also included in Game Pass, allowing subscribers to play without extra charges.
