The Mass Effect TV series is finally starting to move forward, and now it has a showrunner. Doug Jung, best known for co-writing Star Trek Beyond and working on the upcoming Chief of War, has joined the team to help lead the new show.

According to a report from Deadline, Jung will be working as the showrunner and executive producer alongside writer Dan Casey. They’ll also be joined by Michael Gamble from EA, Karim Zreik from Cedar Tree Productions, and Ari Arad and Emmy Yu from Arad Productions.

Casey has actually been writing for the Mass Effect series for close to a year already. When Amazon first confirmed the show was in development back in November last year, Casey was already on board as a writer.

There’s still no word on casting. Jennifer Hale, who voiced the female version of Commander Shepard in the games, said that she’d love to be part of the show. She also mentioned that the original voice cast should be involved.

On a related note, Henry Cavill once showed interest in joining the series too, saying he’d “love” to be involved. But since leaving The Witcher, he’s now busy working on Amazon’s Warhammer project instead.
