Elizabeth Olsen Sparks ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Return Rumors After London Sighting
Marvel Studios has mastered the art of secrecy, particularly with the extensive ensemble casts being gathered for its upcoming Avengers films. Every trailer release and each random airport sighting are scrutinized by fans eager to uncover clues about who will appear in Battleworld when filming begins.
This atmosphere has turned even the tiniest detail into a potential revelation, especially concerning characters with unresolved fates. Few MCU narratives remain as unclear as that of Wanda Maximoff, whose supposed death in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ has yet to be fully explored on screen.
This uncertainty has reignited fan speculation. Recent reports indicate that Elizabeth Olsen was spotted on a flight to London, leading many to speculate about her involvement in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which is anticipated to start filming there soon.
It’s crucial to note that this information stems from social media discussions rather than any official word from Marvel Studios, Olsen, or her representatives. However, the timing aligns with the increasing excitement surrounding Secret Wars, which follows ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as the second installment of the Russo brothers’ back-to-back Avengers saga.
Olsen’s previous comments over the past year and a half have only added to the intrigue. When ‘Doomsday’ was gearing up for production, she told The Hollywood Reporter that she had no plans to extend her stay in London and was instead heading home to film a pilot for FX.
That statement seemed quite definitive at the time, but Marvel actors are known for their ability to mislead when it comes to keeping spoilers under wraps. More recently, when asked about her status, Olsen provided a much less certain response.
Discussing her awareness of the upcoming films, she stated, “I know nothing” regarding what she knew about Doomsday, a remark she made during a public appearance reported by Deadline. She also mentioned being similarly unaware of specifics about ‘Secret Wars,’ further complicating whether her earlier denial still stands.
Adding to the complexity, Olsen was not included among the previously reported cast members expected to appear in ‘Secret Wars.’ This lineup reportedly features Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, Hayley Atwell, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Sadie Sink.
Despite her absence from the cast list, Wanda Maximoff remains a fan-favorite character, fueling ongoing speculation. Since her seemingly final scene in ‘Multiverse of Madness,’ Olsen has expressed her willingness to reprise the role if Marvel reaches out.
Whether this latest rumor from London will lead to an official confirmation is yet to be seen. It wouldn’t be the first time a casting rumor has fizzled out before an official announcement. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to premiere on December 18, followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ the following year, giving Marvel ample time to either confirm or quietly dismiss the growing speculation.
For now, fans are left analyzing airport sightings and social media posts for any indication that the Scarlet Witch may be making a comeback. Given Marvel’s tight-lipped approach to details about both films, an official statement is likely to come only when the studio is ready to share it on its own terms.
