Enola Holmes 3 Reviews Are In Critics Split on Millie Bobby Brown’s Latest Mystery
Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola Holmes, but the initial reactions to her latest mystery are more polarized compared to the first two films.
According to early reviews compiled by Rotten Tomatoes, ‘Enola Holmes 3′ has launched with a 67% Tomatometer score based on 12 critic reviews. While some reviewers appreciate the series’ signature style, others feel that the third installment falls short of the charm and excitement found in its predecessors.
The ‘Enola Holmes’ franchise has emerged as one of Netflix’s most successful original film series in recent years. Brown’s portrayal of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister has garnered praise for her intelligence, humor, and determination, which helped the first two films attract a substantial audience. These films combined mystery with coming-of-age narratives and featured a cast of well-known actors.
This time around, the franchise introduces some changes behind the scenes. ‘Enola Holmes 3’ marks the first film in the series to have a different director, and production has shifted to Malta. Due to these changes, many fans were eager to see if the new installment could uphold the quality of its predecessors.
The initial wave of reviews indicates that critics are divided.

Robert Kojder from Flickering Myth was not impressed with the sequel, rating it 2.5 out of 5. He described the film as a step down from its predecessors, noting that it presents a weak central mystery and has “the odd aura of an unnecessary epilogue.” His review argues that the narrative struggles to justify the need for another sequel.
Dionar Hidalgo of Algo Más Que Cine also delivered a negative review, scoring it 5 out of 10. While Hidalgo found moments of enjoyment, the review states that the film plays it too safe rather than exploring fresh directions. According to Hidalgo, “Enola Holmes 3 is another pleasant but frustratingly safe entry.” The review also points out an overcrowded script, rapid editing, and performances that lack a strong impact.
William Bibbiani from TheWrap echoed similar sentiments, stating that the latest adventure misses the qualities that made the earlier films memorable. Bibbiani wrote, “Enola Holmes 3 lacks the energy, the heft and the personality that made her previous adventures so satisfying.”
However, not all critics were disappointed.
Danielle Solzman from Solzy at the Movies awarded the film a positive 4 out of 5 rating, believing it succeeds by adhering to what has worked in the past rather than attempting to reinvent the franchise. The review states, “Enola Holmes 3 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t need to.”
Alan French from FandomWire also gave the movie a favorable review, scoring it 6 out of 10. French feels that the third film continues to provide the same blend of humor and mystery that fans have come to expect. According to the review, “Using the same style and wit as the previous entries, Enola Holmes continues to be one of Netflix’s few good franchises.”
Lissete Lanuza Sáenz from Fangirlish also noted the familiar formula. While acknowledging that the series is starting to feel repetitive, the movie remains entertaining due to its charm. Sáenz wrote, “The formula is pretty much the same, and we can even say it’s starting to feel repetitive. But the charm is still there, and that means the movie is still pretty fun.”
The Rotten Tomatoes score may still fluctuate as more critics weigh in. For now, ‘Enola Holmes 3’ stands as the most divisive entry in the Netflix franchise, with reviewers agreeing that it remains true to the series while disagreeing on whether that is sufficient to make it another successful mystery adventure.
