Fans Leak Footage from Canceled Warner Bros. Movie ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’
Warner Bros. has a troubling trend of shelving completed animated films for tax reasons, but this year saw a glimmer of hope with the release of ‘Coyote vs. Acme.’ This hybrid live-action and animated film, which had been finished for three years after being scrapped in 2023, finally hit theaters thanks to a dedicated public campaign that convinced the studio to sell the distribution rights instead of quietly writing it off.
This success has inspired fans who are still advocating for other shelved Warner Bros. projects. Alongside the renewed efforts to save ‘Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical,’ supporters of the canceled film ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ have begun sharing leaked footage directly, hoping that public pressure and viral attention will compel the studio to reconsider.
One fan account shared a clip from the film this week, fearing it might be taken down, and tagged the post with the hashtags SaveScoobHolidayHaunt and ReleaseScoobHolidayHaunt. The brief clip showcases a scene outside a cabin, highlighting just how far along the animation and production had progressed before Warner Bros. decided to halt the project.
This isn’t the first instance of footage leaking from the film. Unofficial clips reportedly emerged online back in July 2025, offering fans a glimpse of a nearly finished project that has otherwise remained under wraps, according to reports from Grokipedia. Those earlier leaks sparked speculation about possible archival deals or alternative distribution methods, although no official word has come from Warner Bros. Discovery.
‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ was initially scheduled to debut on HBO Max in December 2022 as a prequel to 2020’s ‘Scoob!,’ following a young Mystery Incorporated gang as they explore a haunted holiday resort owned by Fred’s uncle. The film was shelved in August 2022 alongside the DC film ‘Batgirl’ and later ‘Coyote vs. Acme,’ all part of a cost-cutting strategy under Warner Bros. Discovery’s new leadership.
Director Michael Kurinsky has openly discussed how close the film was to completion when it was canceled. He revealed that only a few hundred shots remained to finish, light, render, and approve, estimating that the film was about 95 percent complete at the time of cancellation.
Kurinsky has also expressed the emotional impact of witnessing years of work go to waste. He described the situation as bittersweet, noting the disappointment of achieving personal creative milestones only to have the finished film never reach audiences.
Unlike ‘Coyote vs. Acme,’ however, ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ has yet to find a distributor willing to tackle the complex tax and rights issues involved in reviving a shelved project. Industry experts have pointed out that the film’s status remains linked to the original write-off, and resolving that situation may require Warner Bros. Discovery to repay the financial benefits it initially claimed.
For now, fans sharing leaked clips and resurrecting old hashtags signal that the campaign for ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ is far from over, especially with ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ demonstrating that persistent pressure can eventually sway a major studio. Whether Warner Bros. views this outcome as a repeatable strategy or a one-off remains to be seen.
