Fortnite is once again collaborating with the Star Wars universe to promote the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu. This partnership introduces a new in-game experience called the Watch Party Island, featuring early footage, themed gameplay, and interactive missions directly within the popular game.

According to details shared by Epic Games and reported by various entertainment outlets, players can watch the first 10 minutes of the film starting Tuesday inside Fortnite. The special island serves as an interactive space where players can explore movie-inspired locations while previewing what’s set to hit cinemas.

The experience is centered around the planet Nevarro, a significant setting from the The Mandalorian series. The island recreates familiar locales, including city streets and Imperial-controlled areas. Players can join forces to defend the city against Imperial forces while navigating through various zones inspired by the Star Wars universe.

Director Jon Favreau will also appear on the island for a live Q&A session on May 26. In a preview message shared earlier, Favreau described the experience, stating, “It drops you into Nevarro with your friends.” He also noted that the same creative teams who worked on the film contributed to building the Fortnite version of the world, ensuring a close connection to the movie’s design and atmosphere.

The project was developed in collaboration with Fairview Portals and Beyond Creative, along with Epic Games. Lucasfilm executive James Waugh explained that the aim was to enhance how fans experience the franchise. He emphasized that Star Wars continues to resonate with new generations by offering audiences diverse ways to engage with its stories and worlds.

In addition to watching the film preview, players can participate in missions on the island. Teams of up to 12 players can battle alongside characters like IG-11 while completing objectives related to defending Nevarro. The experience also includes smaller interactions, such as assisting Grogu with special tasks.

Players who spend time on the island can unlock rewards, including a Mandalorian-themed loading screen featuring concept art from the film. Additional cosmetic items, such as the Mandalorian outfit, will also be available in Fortnite’s in-game shop.

The Watch Party Island is part of a growing trend of Star Wars collaborations within Fortnite. Epic Games has expanded its Creative tools to facilitate more Star Wars-themed content, including fan-made maps and official experiences. Previous projects have included themed game modes and custom missions that allow players to explore various parts of the galaxy.

Developers have utilized the new tools to create a variety of experiences, ranging from action-packed battles to exploration maps. This latest collaboration builds on that framework, directly linking gameplay with a major film release.

With early footage, developer commentary, and interactive missions all in one space, the Watch Party Island aims to immerse fans in the world of The Mandalorian and Grogu before its theatrical debut.
