First Look at Netflix’s Comedy ‘Little Brother’ Starring Eric André and John Cena
Netflix has unveiled a first look at its upcoming comedy ‘Little Brother,’ featuring Eric André and John Cena in a unique project that blends chaos with heartfelt moments.
The film tells the story of an unusual reunion between two characters with a shared past, though only one remembers it. André portrays Marcus, who reconnects with Rudd, played by Cena, years after a brief mentorship-style relationship in their youth. While Marcus views this reconnection as significant, Rudd has moved on, establishing a structured and controlled life.
Things take a wild turn when Marcus re-enters Rudd’s life. According to André, his character means well but often stirs up trouble unknowingly. “My heart’s in the right place,” he explained, noting that Marcus grapples with feelings of abandonment and seeks connection in his own unique way.
The narrative focuses on how Marcus gradually integrates into Rudd’s family life, forming bonds with his wife and children while pushing Rudd out of his comfort zone. Cena described his character as someone who has lost sight of what truly matters. “Using work and money to fill a hole that should be filled with love and family,” he shared.
The concept for the film originated from producer David Bernad, inspired by real-life behaviors he found frustrating. Writers Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul crafted the script around André’s comedic style, with Netflix greenlighting the project once Cena joined the cast.

Cena mentioned that he immediately recognized the project’s potential, especially with André leading it. “It was written for Eric, and he just needed a comedic straight face to bounce the absurdity off of,” he noted.
The cast also features Michelle Monaghan as Rudd’s wife, who becomes more receptive to Marcus than her husband does. Their dynamic adds depth to the story, as she begins to reevaluate her own relationship. André humorously described their connection, joking about one unusual scene, saying, “I talk her into the ancient art of analingus.”
Christopher Meloni also stars as Rudd’s successful older brother, introducing tension into Rudd’s already complicated life. Additional cast members include Ego Nwodim, Sherry Cola, and Caleb Hearon.
Directed by Matt Spicer, the film captures a blend of humor and emotional storytelling. He emphasized that ‘Little Brother’ balances outrageous comedy with grounded moments about relationships and personal challenges.
‘Little Brother’ is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on June 26.
This film promises a chaotic comedy experience that heavily features Eric André’s distinctive style, which can be polarizing for audiences. The combination of his approach with John Cena’s more structured comedic style could create an intriguing contrast. It may not appeal to everyone, but it certainly stands out.
