‘Gilmore Girls’ Creators Talk About Future Possibility of New Episodes
Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, the creators of Gilmore Girls, recently shared their thoughts about the beloved show and whether it could return in the future. In a new interview with Variety, they talked about their current projects and gave fans a little hope for more Gilmore Girls.
Amy and Daniel made it clear that they still care deeply about Gilmore Girls. They said they love the actors, the town of Stars Hollow, and writing the characters. Amy said doing another revival “would be delightful” if the timing is right.
Daniel joked that Walmart shouldn’t be the last to say goodbye to the show — referencing a recent Walmart commercial with some of the cast.
Fans may have seen Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson, who played Lorelai and Luke, in a Walmart holiday commercial. Amy and Daniel said they had no part in making it. They only found out about it after Lauren told them.
“We had no creative input on it whatsoever. We only found out about it because Lauren told us. And Lauren apparently made them change some stuff that she knew would make me want to kill myself.“
Amy joked that Lauren made sure the ad didn’t include anything that would make her want to “kill herself.” Still, they thought the commercial looked great — and Daniel said the snowy Stars Hollow looked amazing.
“I really liked the one with Kirk and all the snow. And Lauren looked sensational.” Palladino said. “And I thought Stars Hollow looked great. Commercials have a higher budget than anything. They go hard.” He added.
While there are no official plans for more Gilmore Girls, Amy said it’s all about timing. If everything lines up — the actors, the story, and the moment — they would love to return to that world again.
Fans can hold onto hope. The creators haven’t closed the door. They just need the stars to align — and maybe not at Walmart next time.
