The Running Man is an upcoming action thriller film directed by Edgar Wright. It is based on the 1982 novel of the same name by Stephen King, written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. The film is not a remake of the 1987 adaptation but a new version that stays closer to the original book. The screenplay is written by Edgar Wright and Michael Bacall.

The movie stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards, the main character. Katy O’Brian and Daniel Ezra play contestants in the deadly game. Karl Glusman and Lee Pace take on the roles of hunters. Josh Brolin plays Dan Killian, the producer of the show. Jayme Lawson plays Sheila Richards, Ben’s wife.

Michael Cera plays Bradley Throckmorton, a rebel who helps Ben. Emilia Jones plays Amelia Williams, a hostage. William H. Macy plays a man who helps Ben while he is on the run. Other cast members include David Zayas, Sean Hayes, and Colman Domingo, who plays Bobby Thompson, the host of The Running Man show.

The story takes place in a dystopian future. A brutal game show called The Running Man forces people to compete for money while being chased by deadly hunters. Contestants must run for their lives while the whole world watches. The show is controlled by powerful figures who use it to entertain the public and maintain control over society.

At CinemaCon, Glenn Powell shared that he worked harder on The Running Man than any other movie. He revealed that he did all his own stunts for the film, saying, ‘I was hunted for many months… I’ve had my body thrashed and smashed… That’s what I get for asking Tom Cruise advice on using a stunt double!

Powell was joined on stage by co-stars Colman Domingo and Josh Brolin, who added to the excitement. The full cast of The Running Man came together for the event, making it a memorable moment.

Director Edgar Wright also mentioned that they finished shooting The Running Man less than a week ago, meaning that the footage shown at the event wasn’t finalized yet.

The trailer for The Running Man shows Glen Powell as a desperate man who joins a popular reality show where he must run for his life. If he survives, he wins a huge prize. The footage is full of action, explosions, and, of course, Powell running. It’s much more violent than the previous film, with intense scenes set in a city, using planes, trains, and cars.

The trailer also reveals Colman Domingo as the crazy game show host and Michael Cera appearing in the film. The movie looks big in scale with Edgar Wright’s signature humor and a lot of excitement.

The movie is set to be released in theaters on November 7, 2025. It was originally planned for release on November 21, 2025, but the date was moved earlier. Fans of action and dystopian thrillers are eagerly waiting for this exciting adaptation of The Running Man.
