Hailee Steinfeld Remains Mysterious About Kate Bishop’s Return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Fans of Kate Bishop have been eagerly anticipating the return of their favorite archer. Hailee Steinfeld made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Disney+ series ‘Hawkeye’ in 2021, and the speculation surrounding a potential return for Kate Bishop in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has become a hot topic among fans.

Since her initial appearance, Steinfeld has only made a brief return in the post-credits scene of ‘The Marvels’, where she appeared alongside Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan. This moment hinted at a possible Young Avengers project, which is now believed to be evolving into a Champions series. Rumors suggest that some of these heroes might make appearances in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.

Interestingly, Steinfeld’s name was absent from the initial cast announcement for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ in 2025, further fueling speculation. On September 29, she was directly questioned about her character’s future during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’. When asked about the rumors of Kate Bishop’s return, she replied that she does not know and that only time will tell.

Her response was brief and non-committal, leaving the door open for possibilities. This aligns with Marvel’s tendency to keep casting news under wraps, contrasting with her previous enthusiasm expressed in 2025 when she mentioned her excitement about evolving with the character of Kate in the MCU.

In a clip from her appearance, Steinfeld wore a burgundy velvet dress while facing Fallon against the backdrop of the glowing New York skyline. The show teased her visit by mentioning that since her last appearance, she had gotten married, had a baby, and starred in one of the world’s biggest films.

The most compelling evidence for her return comes from a ScreenX version of the latest ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer, which expands the view to 270 degrees, revealing more of the scene. In this shot, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang and Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang appear to be inside Kate Bishop’s apartment.

Although Steinfeld is not visible in this particular shot, fans recognize the set. The metallic staircase resembles the one seen in ‘Hawkeye’ and ‘The Marvels’, where Kate lived with Lucky the Pizza Dog. This clue also ties back to the end of ‘The Marvels’, where Kamala Khan visited Kate’s apartment and inquired about Cassie Lang. Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the details regarding the ScreenX footage.

Rumors have been circulating since spring, with industry insider James Mack stating on X in April that Kate Bishop will appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, although Marvel has not confirmed any specifics.

Currently, Cassie Lang is the only confirmed Young Avenger returning. Kate may not be the only archer, as Jeremy Renner has also hinted at a return to his Hawkeye role with a cryptic social media post, despite his absence from the announced cast.

If Kate returns, it could lead to her reuniting with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, a pairing that received praise for their sharp humor and chemistry in ‘Hawkeye’.

Outside of Marvel, Steinfeld is busy with other projects. She stars in Disney’s animated feature ‘Hexed’, set to premiere in theaters on November 25, and she appeared on ‘The Tonight Show’ to promote the film.

Marvel remains an open question for her, and she is keeping her cards close for now.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, with a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The film is set to hit theaters on December 18, followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ on December 17, 2027.

For now, Steinfeld’s vague response keeps the intrigue alive, and the ScreenX footage has only heightened fans’ belief that Kate Bishop’s journey is far from over.
