‘Haunted Hotel’ Season 2 Release Date and Trailer Featuring Abaddon
Netflix’s animated horror lineup has expanded significantly in recent years, with few new shows making as immediate an impact as ‘Haunted Hotel.’ This adult animated comedy, created by ‘Rick and Morty’ writer Matt Roller, debuted in September 2025 and quickly established itself as more than just a seasonal novelty.
The first season followed single mother Katherine Freeling, who relocated her two children to a misty part of upstate New York after inheriting a dilapidated hotel from her late brother Nathan. His ghost remained, unwilling to relinquish control of the establishment. The entire season was released at once, and it quickly climbed into Netflix’s global top 10 English-language chart, garnering 1.8 million views and 7.5 million hours of watch time within its first three days.
This strong performance prompted Netflix to renew the series for a second season just a week after its premiere. The streaming giant has now confirmed that ‘Haunted Hotel’ Season 2 will officially premiere on October 9. To celebrate the announcement, Netflix released a new teaser trailer featuring the beloved demon Abaddon, who energetically announces the news.
The upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long, continuing the Freeling family’s journey after Season 1 concluded with them overcoming an apocalyptic threat. Netflix’s teaser hints at new ghosts, fresh hotel staff, and various undefined evils yet to be uncovered, promising an exciting mix of horror and workplace-sitcom humor.

The entire voice cast will return for the new season, featuring Will Forte as Nathan, Eliza Coupe as Katherine, Skyler Gisondo as Ben, Natalie Palamides as Esther, and Jimmi Simpson reprising his role as Abaddon. Dan Harmon, Chris McKenna, and Steve Levy will continue as executive producers alongside Roller, who is also known for his work on ‘Community’ and ‘Archer.’

Animation will once again be produced by Titmouse, the studio responsible for shows like ‘Big Mouth’ and ‘The Venture Bros.,’ with Erica Hayes supervising direction for the new season. Titmouse’s involvement has contributed to the series’ unique visual style since Season 1, and that consistency is expected to continue as the Freeling family encounters new supernatural challenges.
With the October 9 release date perfectly timed for the Halloween season, Netflix seems to be positioning ‘Haunted Hotel’ as a key spooky viewing option for the month, hoping that the show’s combination of family dynamics and paranormal chaos will attract the same audience that made its first season a rapid success.
