As 2025 winds down, HBO is already lining up the next chapter of The White Lotus. New reports suggest Helena Bonham Carter is in early talks to take on one of the season’s major roles.

HBO hasn’t commented on the rumor, but a deal would make her the first actor publicly tied to Season 4. Network boss Casey Bloys has also said the casting process is officially underway, while plot details are still being kept secret.

One thing that does seem locked in is the destination: France. Production is expected to ramp up in the spring, though the exact schedule hasn’t been formally confirmed.

The bigger mystery is which hotel will double as the show’s fictional resort. Earlier seasons leaned on Four Seasons locations, but HBO has indicated there’s no current marketing partnership with Four Seasons for the upcoming season.

The series has built its brand on mixing established heavyweights with buzzy newer names. Season 3, set in Thailand, featured Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Sam Rockwell, Natasha Rothwell, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Nivola, and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

That ensemble drew eight Emmy nominations in acting categories, underlining how reliably the show turns casting into an event. With that track record, it’s easy to see why even a single name in the mix sparks a flood of fan predictions.

If Bonham Carter signs on, it would be another prestige-TV swing after her turn as Princess Margaret on The Crown, which earned her two Emmy nominations. She’s also set to appear in Netflix’s mystery series Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials.

With France as the next stop and casting momentum building, anticipation for the new season is rising fast. Share your thoughts on what kind of character Helena Bonham Carter should play in the comments.
