How many episodes do Naruto, Shippuden, and Boruto have?
Naruto is a pretty long-running series, and for good reason. Not only is the storyline itself fairly long, but before the series ended, the manga and anime were running at the same time.
At certain points, the anime caught up to the manga. Because they were following the manga, they had to wait for new chapters to be released so they could be adapted into anime episodes. But if they waited for new chapters every time, they would lose viewers.
Because of this, the anime showrunners adapted anime-only storylines, making the episode count even higher. The original Naruto series has 220 episodes. Shippuden has 500 episodes in total. These two make up the entirety of Naruto’s adventures. The series started airing on October 3rd, 2002 and finished airing on the 23rd of March, 2017.
Boruto is still ongoing, but so far it has 270 episodes. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations started airing not long after Naruto ended, precisely on the 5th of April, 2017. We don’t know how many episodes Boruto will have by the time it ends, but it’s very likely that Episode 273: Farewell Ninja School marks the end of its current arc, which is the Great Kirigakure Arc.
For all three, you’re looking at 990 episodes and counting. The next episode of Boruto comes out on October 16th, 2022.
