J.Lo’s New Netflix Movie ‘Office Romance’ Tops Global Charts
A new film has swiftly ascended to the top of Netflix’s global charts, capturing significant attention from viewers worldwide. While the reactions to the movie have varied, its popularity has surged, making it one of the most discussed releases on the platform this week.
Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Office Romance’ has become the most-watched movie on Netflix globally. According to Netflix global Top 10 data for June 6, the film is currently ranked number one, surpassing several new and returning titles on the platform.
This romantic comedy, directed by Ol Parker and penned by Brett Goldstein and Joe Kelly, features Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein in the lead roles. The ranking data comes from Netflix’s official global charts.

The plot centers around Jennifer Lopez as Jackie Cruz, the CEO of a company named AirCruz. Brett Goldstein portrays Daniel Blanchflower, a new in-house lawyer at the same firm. The narrative develops around their professional relationship, which gradually evolves into something more complex. Other notable cast members include Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, Edward James Olmos, and several others in supporting roles.
The extensive cast features many familiar faces. Betty Gilpin plays Sydney Bloom, Jackie’s trusted assistant. Amy Sedaris takes on the role of Julie Schatz, while Tony Hale appears as HR director George Dudek. Bradley Whitford portrays the company’s general counsel, and Edward James Olmos plays Captain Jack Cruz, Jackie’s father and the founder of AirCruz. The film also includes Rick Hoffman, Jodie Whittaker, and many more in minor roles.
Despite the strong ensemble, the film has garnered mixed reviews from critics. According to Rotten Tomatoes, as reported on the platform, the movie holds a 51% score based on 35 reviews, with an average rating of 4.9 out of 10. On Metacritic, it has a score of 50 out of 100 based on 18 critics, indicating “mixed or average” reviews.

Some critics expressed disappointment with the storytelling. Lisa Kennedy of The New York Times remarked, “The writers Goldstein and Joe Kelly attempt to cram a streaming season’s worth of character zigs into a two-hour film. Alas, the landing isn’t smooth.” Monica Castillo of The AV Club was similarly critical, stating, “While the romance here feels tenuous at best, the comedy is in even worse shape, often mistaking uncomfortable oversharing for punchlines. If this was meant to be a return to form for Lopez, it’s not a satisfying comeback.”
Conversely, some reviews were more favorable. Guy Lodge of Variety offered a gentler perspective, writing, “Soft and cottony and just peculiar enough to be memorable, ‘Office Romance’ gives the people what they want.” Brian Truitt of USA Today also highlighted both the strengths and weaknesses of the film, noting, “The film can’t escape all of the usual genre tropes or overt sentimentality, yet that’s tempered by a bawdy sense of humor and fits of wild broad comedy.”
Despite the mixed critical reception, audiences seem to be responding differently. The Netflix global ranking reflects strong viewer interest, with ‘Office Romance’ claiming the top spot worldwide on June 6. This list features other popular titles such as ‘The Murder of Rachel Nickell’, ‘Swapped’, ‘Ladies First’, and ‘Creed III’, but none match the current viewership of ‘Office Romance’.
The film’s performance indicates that audience viewing habits do not always align with critic reviews. Even with a divided critical response, ‘Office Romance’ has evidently resonated with Netflix viewers across various regions.
Currently, the movie remains at number one on Netflix’s global chart, marking it as one of the platform’s biggest releases of the year.
